AUSTON TRUSTY played his part in the USA’s 4-1 friendly triumph over Peru in Orlando last night.
The Celtic central defender was the only home performer to play every minute of the match as head coach Mauricio Pochettino made wholesale changes after the interval.
Debutants Justin Ellis, Zavier Gozo and Justin Hall scored in the runaway success as 16-year-old Philadelphia Union midfielder Cavan Sullivan became the youngest player to feature for the national team in over two decades.
YANKEE DOODLE DANDIES…Auston Tusty joins in the goal celebrations in the USA’s 4-1 victory over Peru in Orlando.
Malik Tillman, who had a loan spell at Ibrox in 2022/23, scored his country’s other goal via the penalty spot while Gianluca Lapadula headed in the visitors’ consolation effort.
Trusty eased through the game and is a certainty to start when Pochettino’s side take on Chile in St Louis on Wednesday before they wrap up the schedule with matches against Mexico in Phoenix on Saturday and Canada in Minneapolis the following midweek.
Then it’s back to club action for Trusty when the champions take on Motherwell at Fir Park a fortnight today.
