Tumbleweed from Carter Ruck emboldens journos

News that Rangers FC Group Ltd had settled a dispute with solicitors Fyfe Ireland ahead of a hearing scheduled for tomorrow brought another legal matter to the fore today.  BBC lawyers have been on red alert since last month when a spokesman for Rangers owner, Craig Whyte, said he “has instructed his lawyers, Carter Ruck, to commence immediate legal proceedings against the BBC” following the BBC Scotland Investigates documentary, Rangers: The Inside Story.

However, I hear nothing has been received from Carter Ruck, or any other lawyers, in connection with claims made in the documentary, much to the disappointment of some, who hoped for swift and meaningful action to settle the allegations, and others, who were keen to see the issue play out in court.  As a result, a couple of jounros I’ve spoken to feel emboldened on this subject….

  1. He who laughs last…..

At first he sniggered behind his hand,

The biggest tax case in this small land,

The joy of a rival on a slippery slope,

With all the lost points it gave them hope.

He quickly began to laugh out loud,

    Referees exposed, SFA finally cowed,

Scotland, would wipe the slate clean,

Such a great feeling to see it pristine.

The joviality however, did not last long,

Establishment fought back, attacking our song,

Wiping the smirk and smile from our face,

Bringing new laws, to put us back in our place.

right prediction for a wet n cold night at Celtic park 4-0 to the hoops stokes and hooper sharing the goals

  3. Someone suggested selling Wilson. I think Wilson has been a great servant of this club and last season played some of the best football of his life. Keep him.

    Paul67,

You mean the BBC aren’t going to pay the tax bill?

Who’s going to pay it then?

  6. 4-3-3 = 6-0 win

    4-4-2 = 4-0 win

    5 man midfield = 3-0 win

mccourt playing full game = 5-0 win

That sounds to me like lazy financial advice/opinion.

    Whyte is a FRAUD!!

I love the fact that last week they released a cringe worthy statement and picture regarding a 3 hour meeting with himself and Aunt Sally stipulating they were talking about transfer targets and yet will not part with a penny to sign Sone Aluko.

  10. Maybe the delay is due to Carter Ruck wanting paid up front for their legal representation. Surely no legal firm in their right mind would extend credit facilities to Rangers now.

    Paul67 –

News of Carter Ruck’s inaction against the BBC has taken most of us by surprise…

Whatever next – Craig Whyte’s wealth is not even on the scale?

  12. I have always preferred Private Eye’s name for Carter Ruck. I am sure they know of CW’s unwillingness to pay his bills, and have probably requested money up front.

Certainly they wouldn’t want to do it on a no-win no-fee basis. Afterall wiki describes a documentary as “primarily for the purposes of instruction or maintaining a historical record”.

4-0 to the good guys tonight!

I’d bet those journos aren’t Glasgow based or work for a Scottish paper.

  14. Shieldmuir Celtic on

Can anyone offer one good reason why we should play Rangers in a FRIENDLY anywhere in the world? We are CELTIC, not the OLD FIRM and our values are as different from theirs as different can be!

  15. Journos who are not not lazy and have sphericals?

We’ll be watching tumbleweed, right enough…

I wonder if their transfer targets were: £6m for Jelavic, £4m for McGregor, £4m for Davis, £4m for Naismith, A bag o sour plooms for Laffatme and 850 thoosand mullion for Burke Fleck

  18. It is very hard to sue anybody when you have little or no money. Whyte is obviously just trying to ward-off further attacks with a bluff and some bluster.

I can see him booby-trapping Ibrox (beyond the asbestos, I mean), Home Alone-style, before the season is out.

I didn’t think I’d ever say anything like this, but beside the Murderwell Thousandaire, Minty looks… well… dignified.

  19. Carter Ruck –

    Carter Ruck don’t come cheap.

Carter Ruck have a Reputation to protect..

Carter Ruck would never chase a lost cause unless they thought the client had more money than sense.

Carter Ruck will know. a brass necked Spiv when they see one. Carter Ruck might well have said —- ” No chance “.

Alternatively ————- Have Carter Ruck ever confirmed that they are handling The Thousandaire’s briefs.? Carter Ruck play in a different league from the likes of Fyfe Ireland.

MWD : is that a sicknote for not going to the game tonight?! ;-)

If Charlie is back in training, then I would assume that he will be at CB tonight with Big Dan, releasing the bold Victor as an option for midfield.

    So who starts in midfield?

    T4

  21. I have been watching the press inquiry these last few days, and the disgusting behaviours of them in the past are just unbelievable.

I then read Leckie, Traynor and co, regarding the Green Brigade.

The language they use, the generalisations they make, what they say, is it really aloud ?

When I hear Traynor on the radio it is aloud until I turn the volume down.

    Then it’s better.
