Uefa accounts submission Deadline Day

413

18 October has been in the diary for a while.  Today is the day teams in European competition have to submit their accounts for last season to Uefa.  If you are in European competition, your accounts must be ready to publish.  If they are ready and you have not published them, why?

Celtic’s accounts were published a month ago; Celtic have nothing to worry about or hide.  Newco have yet to let their fans know what the figures look like.  They will eventually be published, of course, when we will gain an insight into why they were unable to spend in the transfer market after qualifying for the Champions League.

I also expect to see the resolution of their dispute with Sports Direct International.  At the lower end, this could be a charge in the region of £2m, but at the punitive end, it could be as high as £8m.  It will also be interesting to read whether they could afford to settle this debt outright or had to commit to a long-term payment plan.   Knowing what a slick operation Newco are, I expect a punitive settlement that overreaches their immediate resources and a decade long mortage-type payment.

As in politics, money eventually outs you in football.  When we read club accounts we cannot get the thrill we get from a match result, but the consequences are far greater.

There is something incredibly endearing about Frank McGarvey.  He is out there, facing the illness no one likes talking about, without awkwardness or hushed tones.  Everyone has to find their own way to deal with illness, we are not all like Frank, but again, facing this hurdle, he has given us an example to admire.

    1985 cup final

i’ve probably bored a few on here with this story before…

should have been going to the game and then on to germany on the monday with the youth team i played for

    (and so should Blantyre Tim)

instead just about seen Provans free kick as i was wheeled from the ward with my double fracture sustained earlier in the day.

Guessing Blantyre Tim watched the whole game with his feet up as he recovered from his fracture sustained earlier in the season (a bad one indeed).

    hail hail BT

last time I saw Frank McG in the flesh he was turning me inside out before scoring at the 5’s. His son was playing – he had lost a foot in an accident. Some of the guys in my team didnt know and couldnt tell.

  2. UEFA will. fine Rangers 2 ginger bottles.

Rangers are probably in dispute about a going concern comment with their Auditors.

It’s worth noting that non playing staff have been departing in some numbers including the DUP chap who was there. Was he keeping an eye on “investment” from the wee province?

  3. Sean McGarvey was an excellent player. I saw him doing a back flip after scoring for Scotland v England Disabled international at Cleethorpes. No mean feat with an artificial foot.

Coneybhoy recommended Sheehans pub in Chatham Street.

Nearys (across the road from Sheehans) is worth a visit.

Grogans in South William Street (just around corner) is a cracking pub.

The Long Hall in George’s Street (short walk away) another great pub where Fenians conspired in the 1860s/ 1870s.

All those pub serve good Guinness

All great pubs I’ve visited over the years with my mates and my Dad. The old fella started in the 50s and I came over regularly from the 70s onwards. Lots of changes as you know.

Unlike the year before the. You and Reagygot me drunk before the sheep final..

    Take care pal

  8. Be interesting to see how we approach the game tomorrow.

Do we continue with a one size fits all approach?

Do we use the cup to try a different formation?

Clearly, we are outstanding domestically, whilst we are distinctly average in European competition.

The motherwell game may be one of our few opportunities to try plan A.2

Thank you Frank McGarvey for 2 of my best memory’s watching Celtic, your Stretch Armstrong impression as you managed (to somehow) head in that bullet of a cross (at my first ever cup final), and singing along as you belted out Celtic songs from a Fruit Market trailer at the Garngad Street Party 2001.

I think Tom McAdam was sent off for retaliation on Frank McDougall. Again a vague memory but I think he to land one on his chin. Or maybe even succeeded.

Yes. I remember it was a nightmare getting in with wee boys getting passed along above the heads of the crowd to get them out of the crush.

In the days before crowd surfing was a thing of course.

  16. Interesting fact about Guinness in Ireland compared to elsewhere.

I’m told by a guy that to export Beer from Ireland it has to be pasteurised prior to export. This, if is the case could explain the difference.

  17. Ok. Ange has had his pre-match media conference, and confirmed that he has nobody to add to the weekends squad, availability wise (ie, Jota, Turnbull, Welsh, Starfelt, Calmac still out).

What eleven do we think will start?

Or what eleven would we like to start?

    I’d like to start with…

    Siegrist

    Ralston CCV Jenz Bernabei

    Hatate Mooy O’Riley

    Forrest Giakomakis Haksabanovic

With hopefully a two goal cushion allowing some to be brought off early, with Tynecastle at the weekend in mind; and others to get some game time. Ideally, I’d like to see Ideguchi introduced at some point in the 2nd half. I’ve still got high hopes for him as a number 6.

we were in the love street end that night, absolutley packed, real suspicion of offisde for both doylies goals

  19. So many theories on the Guinness tasting better. Some of the ones I saw online are:

    * The popularity of Guinness keeps it fresh as it spends less time sitting in a keg.

    * Guinness lines are cleaned every 3 weeks by Guinness representatives. No such thing in the US as far as I know.

    * Room temperature is the proper serving temperature for Guinness. In the US, beer is usually enjoyed chilled.

  20. The above though is not my experience. Pretty sure I had extra cold Guinness when in Dublin, just like my local in Scotland back in the day. The clean lines thing makes sense though.

  21. In the 60s Guinness was brewed in London, it was very watery in consistency compared with the double X you got in Ireland

    AIPLLE

clean lines are essential even for lager and beer due to the build up that collects

At least once a month depending on the type of pub and quality of the staff

  23. blantyretim is praying for the Knox family on

And you can also get a few pints depending in the length of the draw from the cellar to the taps

    Out that down as spillage/waste
