18 October has been in the diary for a while. Today is the day teams in European competition have to submit their accounts for last season to Uefa. If you are in European competition, your accounts must be ready to publish. If they are ready and you have not published them, why?
Celtic’s accounts were published a month ago; Celtic have nothing to worry about or hide. Newco have yet to let their fans know what the figures look like. They will eventually be published, of course, when we will gain an insight into why they were unable to spend in the transfer market after qualifying for the Champions League.
I also expect to see the resolution of their dispute with Sports Direct International. At the lower end, this could be a charge in the region of £2m, but at the punitive end, it could be as high as £8m. It will also be interesting to read whether they could afford to settle this debt outright or had to commit to a long-term payment plan. Knowing what a slick operation Newco are, I expect a punitive settlement that overreaches their immediate resources and a decade long mortage-type payment.
As in politics, money eventually outs you in football. When we read club accounts we cannot get the thrill we get from a match result, but the consequences are far greater.
There is something incredibly endearing about Frank McGarvey. He is out there, facing the illness no one likes talking about, without awkwardness or hushed tones. Everyone has to find their own way to deal with illness, we are not all like Frank, but again, facing this hurdle, he has given us an example to admire.

I stopped putting money into Scottish football when I saw how Celtic helped re establish the huns.
Not to starve Celtic of funds, which is a ridiculous idea, even for you, but because I regard the whole charade as absurd and pointless.
I entertain a faint hope that if the Pat Mustard tribute act who currently controls the Club ever leaves the Club might change tack sufficiently to restore my faith.
I appreciate you might find by views to be a challenge. Don’t let it worry you. We are not all as keen to embrace Old Firmism as you might assume.

I’m of the opinion that repetitive posts that are not looking for debate only to belittle and ring their own bell add nothing to the blog. The blog has suffered in recent years and it was great to read some old names on here over the last 36hours. Many have left that contributed more than many of the rest of us combined due to a few serial battlers.
I wish you no harm but I for one prefer the blog when it is filled with Celtic banter, patter and views on the team and club. Never made a golf day but even being close to 4,000 miles away for the last 18 years I made it to CQN corner.
A blog should, at its finest, foster a family vibe of many opinions, views, memories, thoughts and plans for the future. Some of that has been lost due to vile comments about disabilities. I remember well the Friday nights on here when I was a single man and subsequently a married man. The quizzes and the tunes, even though I wasn’t posting as much then really connected me to the old country and I always dreamed, yes dreamed, don’t laugh, of meeting some of the folks on here. Filled me with pride and joy and for the record my good Louisville lady to finally meet some fine fholks from here this summer. Means so much to me I tried to bring gifts as well.

The issue is a poster claiming he has proof that I am someone I am not.
He either has serious mental health issue, or is deliberately lying (and in doing so is consciously creating the impression that he has a serious mental health issue).
If it’s the former he needs help, if the latter he needs to be called out.

Is the League Cup too important to us to risk losing tomorrow night?
Would a defeat affect our league momentum?
I ask because there is a case for giving Benji Siegrist a run out. Not because he is off form but because a No. 2 keeper has to get some game time and they cannot play reserve fixtures any more.
I don’t want him to be thrust into a CL match in an emergency for his next debut with us, and if the LC is too important, we will have to use a league match in what is a tight race still.
Our next league matches include:-
Hearts – away – a very tricky fixture
Livi- away- a plastic pitch and a team that fancies how they match up with us
United- home-
Motherwell- away
Ross. Co- home- & then a month’s break
So where and how often should we give Benji some game time?

He may very well have an agenda, but surely only the weak minded would be swayed by someone trying to change their views or beliefs.
I see Ernie’s political views and really they just wash over me. NO ONE on this blog or any other will make me change my mind just because they repeatedly make their views on a regular basis. I don’t know Ernie. I do think though he’s passionate about HIS beliefs and will always argue his point. I’ve never seen him abuse anyone on here. I do think he loves playing the role of devils advocate and I don’t see a problem with that. It stimulates debate. And because he won’t conform some people see that as odd. I don’t know Andrew Smith of the Scotsman either, and, if they were to be the same person I don’t have a problem with that either.
I do think though that it’s unfair to reveal someone’s name without their permission when they prefer to remain anonymous
