Uefa compliance officer set for SFA next week

618

A Uefa compliance officer will visit the Scottish FA early next week after European football’s governing body were asked to look into what was happening inside Scottish football by people within the German game.  Scottish football has been rocked by allegations of improper registration of players for over a month now.  The SFA recently concluded an inquiry into Rangers without reference to the allegations while the Scottish Premier League have announced an inquiry, but indicate it will not report anytime soon.

Although the allegations have consequences beyond the SPL, including international and European football, the SFA have failed to actively address concerns which could see 12 years of football results rewritten, prompting interest from Uefa.

Could referee compliance be under scrutiny next, I’m sure it wouldnt take long to find issues reading through the match reports and reviewing the grading of refs

U.E.F.A.’s interest and , I hope, involvement in the fiasco that is Scottish football is good news. For some time I have thought that the most important aspect of this whole scene will be the actions of the S.F.A./S.P.L. – probably even more important than the decisions of H.M.R.C. Sadly I feel that we will have to depend on the influences of external bodies such as U.E.F.A., to get truth and justice in this little bigoted country of ours.

Robbie Savage said at half time tonight that the Portugeese league was a micky mouse league, I know he is Welsh, but he is just like the rest of the english and their arrogance, I hope they implode just like the hun.

  4. I’m a little surprised (though shouldn’t be) that there is nothing mentioned about UEFAs interest in the SFA on NewsNow.

johann murdoch – I salute your perspicacity, sir.

I grew into manhood as a Celtic supporter during the dark days of the 90’s. I remember the days of Liam Brady like they were yesterday, the gut-punch that was losing to Raith Rovers in the 1994 league cup final, and how we celebrated winning the Scottish Cup against Airdrie like it was an Intergalactic Champions League final.

The Celtic family is living proof that the good guys, if they have the guts and the guile to stick it out, will eventually defeat the cheats, the charlatans, the forces of darkness.

  10. Worried for the young fresh german inspector arriving at Royston Vasey on Monday: after all this is a local (closed) shop for local people. What horrors awake him?” Fritz, in this house, the first Monday of every month is Nude Day.”

  11. Maybe Porto have called in the compliance officer. The Portuguese F.A would be ruled out as they asked for clarification .

The Dutch F.A would be ruled out due to ricksen being Dutch.

Therefore it could either be a German or Austrian with excellent English and

Competent in F.A. And euro rules/regulations.If this compliance officer has indeed been called in by another euro F.A.,Stewart regan and R.C.ogilvie better have every file in order and none missing or improper.

As this would make for a damming report.IMHO

I’m sure I heard him say that when the FFP comes in that eventually Bilbao will be one of, if not, the best teams in Europe – after Celtic obviously:-)

  17. Watched the games tonight like many on here, without really caring about the results.

Understand, without agreeing, the gloating – it seems to be a popular theme.

Can’t understand the praise for Portuguese football. Technically gifted? Yes – without a doubt, but, at a time when more and more are complaining about cheating in fotball, they have consistenly shown themselves to be the worst of a bad lot over a period of years. All the teams I have seen in recent years play like Porto in Seville.

We didn’t like it then, with good reason, so why should anyone praise them now?

Just because an English team suffered this time?

Prejudice, anyone? Where did the objectivity go?

Time-wasting, fake injuries, disgracefull in footballing terms and an even greater disgrace to their undoubted talents. It seems to be endemic.

Apart from Celtic I don’t care who wins – but I always hope the cheats lose, no matter who they are playing against.

    Cheers

  18. Just catching up so apologies if this has been raised already, but could the German connection be related to the performance of Craig Thomson the other week?

He had a howler of a game and gave a penalty for a player tripping himself up.

Pretty sure it was a German team (schalke?) who went out as a result?

I would apreciate your explanation as well, been talking to my neighbours and getting conflicting stories, maybe my lacking of understanding them doesn’t help, one of them was astounded that I even asked as I am a Celtic supporter

Its interesting, a bit ironic, and highly entertaining, how the old divide and rule policy seems to be playin out here. Except, this time, there doesn’t seem to be any antagonist implementing it. Instead, factions are appearing, forming temporary alliances with former ‘bad guys’, taking some of these alliances to court, re-forming into different alliances, and then melting away, like some experiment in the Hadron Collider.

This would make a great computer game, playin on the old puzzle where there’s two people, one who tells lies and one who tells the truth, and you have to identify who is who.

Except you need to expand this into multiple characters, and they all seem to be inveterate liars.

  21. philvisreturns on

JimmyQuinnsBits – couldn’t have put it better myself, and – modestly of course – thats a rare thing ;)

Ha! Thank you, and modesty is a greatly overrated virtue.

On the European front, I think we’ve seen enough promise in this turbulent season that we can realistically expect improvement. Neil and his scouts have done an amazing job so far. (thumbsup)

Eyes Wide Open – Noises from within would indicate that Lennon and his team have been throwing all sorts of subliminal messages at the players to convince them of the potential greatness they could achieve together, yet mediocrity apart

It says inside my replica shirt that football without the fans is nothing.

I believe the same man who said that also pointed out that the Celtic jersey doesn’t shrink to fit inferior players.

I would go further and say that the Celtic manager’s job doesn’t become any easier to suit less talented managers. You and I have seen plenty of decent men become overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of that task.

Mr Lennon has the X-factor as far as I’m concerned. There’s something of a young Clough, O’Neill, and dare I say it, Stein about him. (thumbsup)

  22. jeez_I_thought_blinker_was_pants on

C1st et al – Bilbao cannot possibly be compared to the Huns, they do not/have never discriminated against a particular section of society (e.g Kaffliks), they may have diluted their signing policy in recent years, but a better analogy maybe with the Lions, only picking from a select region. However, like Barca, they are often accused of being the big fish in the small pond regionally, getting to pick up the best of the local talent, Espanol/Real Sociedad have issues with it.

Agree with Phil on the FF situation, I too was gutted when Lenny never took on the option with Stipe, however that’s why I’m not a football manager.

Good to see UEFA gettin involved with the huns murky dealings….next we’ll be hearing ” Alania Vladikavkaz 2 – Rangers 7 – August 1996″ wasn’t fixed !!!
