Not before time but it’s good to see Uefa get to grips with clubs which fail to pay their dues. Malaga, who are still this season’s Champions League, have been banned from European competition the next time they qualify. In the event they win the competition this season, they would join a short ignominious list and become only the third team in history to be banned from defending their trophy by the European governing body. Think of the shame.
Eight other clubs have also been barred from Europe for a season, including our very old friends, Vojvodina. The message is simple, pay your bills!!!

Unaware of that but Sheriff Smith’s book highlights the fact that after an earlier incident on Stairway 13 in 1969, Rangers “resolved to give the injured spectators that which the defenders [Rangers] gave only in exceptional circumstances, namely, two complimentary tickets each, ‘in an effort to appease them’. Ironically, while they challenged the size of the settlement awarded by Sheriff Smith, they didn’t appeal the finding. Strange that we never hear of this from the MSM when, at least annually, we are asked to remember the tragedy which occurred on Stairway 13.

I’ll refer to Rangers however I deem fit in the situation I am in.
Constantly correcting people down here for use of the word Rangers comes across as being limited and parochial. Celtic fans are generally neither of these things. Should such traits start to manifest in those whose mental equipment has not been kept properly serviced, their fellow Celts quickly slap it out of them. Metaphorically speaking.

I’m sure I read somewhere that Rangers donated money to an appeal for victims of the disaster, but tried to stipulate that if they were made to pay any compensation as a result of the disaster, it should come from that donation.

The huns argued that the donation they made to the memorial fund should be deducted from the damages awarded to Mrs Dougan whose husband had been killed in the disaster. She was suing on behalf of herself and her orphaned children.
The court held that benevolent payments should be ignored in the assessment of damages.

We should move on when people actually know what happened.
As far as people are concerned there was a terrible disaster that was no one’s fault and the club did the decent thing by erecting a memorial.
The truth is that the club were responsible for the disaster and lied and cheated to escape responsibility and to deny compensation to the widows and orphans..
I’m not sure why we should be involved in covering up the truth.
