Uefa get tough on non-payers

838

Not before time but it’s good to see Uefa get to grips with clubs which fail to pay their dues.  Malaga, who are still this season’s Champions League, have been banned from European competition the next time they qualify.  In the event they win the competition this season, they would join a short ignominious list and become only the third team in history to be banned from defending their trophy by the European governing body. Think of the shame.

Eight other clubs have also been barred from Europe for a season, including our very old friends, Vojvodina.  The message is simple, pay your bills!!!

  2. I joined the Flying Column in 1916

In Cork with Seán Moylan,In Tipperary with Dan Breen

Arrested by Free Staters and sentenced .. to die

Farewell to Tipperary said the Galtee Mountain Boy

We went across the valleys and over the hilltops green

Where we met with Dinny Lacey, Seán Hogan and Dan Breen

Seán Moylan and his gallant men they kept the flag flying

    high

Farewell to Tipperary said the Galtee Mountain Boy

We tracked the Dublin mountains we were rebels on the run

Though hunted night and morning we were outlawed but free

    men

We tracked the Wicklow mountains as the sun was shining

    high

Farewell to Tipperary said the Galtee Mountain Boy

I’m bidding farewell to old Clonmel that I never more

    will see

And to the Galtee mountains that oft times sheltered me

To the men who fought for their liberty and died without

    a sigh

May the cause be ne’er forgotten said the Galtee Mountain

Not that far behind you, four pints in the pub and half way down a bottle of red. May need to get off here soon before I belt out another song with Philbhoy :-0 oh no PC!

  4. Not being on the night shift references to Margaret McGill are largely lost on me- but as I read the lyrics to Sean South I had vision of Rectum headlines about Celtic Website in Rebel Shame. No offence taken by me I might add.

Be glad to see the back of 2012 – hopefully get the all clear before New Year after my trip to the hospital on Friday.

I think I write the most boring contributions to this blog- I usually have to say knickers or bum to get a reaction- and there are contributors who irritate me but mostly I thoroughly enjoy what I read.

Hope everybody has a great Christmas. Highlight of the year ? Three come to mind- the text from my nephew on 13 Feb telling me that RFC was going into administration. 2. The lovely evening I spent in the company of the great Sean Fallon- what a man. 3 . Tony Watt scoring v Barca. Even I believed we might get a result.

Merry Christmas. God bless us. Everyone.

Invercelt – I shouldn’t have told Izzy to calm down, and i apologise to him for doing so.

It’s just that sometimes he seems hostile, when there is no need to be.

What i meant is that he is preaching to the converted.

That’s quite a life you’ve had. Joining in 1916 you must be a fair old age now. Good on ya oul fella!!

corkcelt – Great song, although not historically accurate.

I will raise a glass also to the Tipp legends that are not mentioned in the song – Sean Treacy & Seamus Robinson.

    KK,

That’s your opinion, IMO by putting the argument aside they will continue to call the new club by the old clubs name, this is currently being normalised with few dissenting voices in the media, this is a media driven agenda. Airdrie tried to do the same thing and were told they couldn’t. Silently knowing, is taking your place at the back of the bus, I expected better from you.

Rarely do Celtic supporters raise the issue, what I expect happens is a poster begins a post with the mistake Rangers are………., these posters are either genuinely confused, forgot out of habit, at the mix.

The first two normally respond thanking for the clarification/reminder, the rest are at it, simple as that.

Another we reminder why they are not the same club,

Which club came second in the SPL last season – Rangers

Which club club represented the SPL for the traditional second place reward – Motherwell

Allowing the confusion/deception to continue is not good for anyone.

    Hail Hail

  10. NatKnow, I’m old but not that old. However I see a few references to Sean South of Garryowen. In my younger Sinn Fein days I soldiered with two lads who were in that lorry with Sean. They were 10/15 years older then me mind you but twas a privilige to know them.

    Happy Christmas to everyone!

    Ring ting tingling too

    Come on, it’s lovely weather

For a neigh ride together with you,

    Outside the snow is falling

And friends are calling “Yoo hoo,”

    Come on, it’s lovely weather

For a neigh ride together with you.

Giddy yap, giddy yap, giddy yap,

Let’s go, Let’s look at the show,

We’re riding in a wonderland of snow.

Giddy yap, giddy yap, giddy yap,

It’s grand, Just holding your hand,

We’re gliding along with a song

    Of a wintry fairy land.

Our cheeks are nice and rosy

    And comfy cozy are we

    We’re snuggled up together

Like two birds of a feather would be

Let’s take that road before us

And sing a chorus or two

    Come on, it’s lovely weather

For a neigh ride together with you.

    There’s a birthday party

At the home of Farmer Ogilvie

It’ll be the perfect ending a perfect day

    We’ll be singing the songs

We love to sing without a single stop,

At the fireplace while we watch

The chestnuts pop. Pop! pop! pop!

In addition the Cellic have been doing rather well, I’d say that’s a priority.

  24. 16 Roads, Met the great Tom Barry a few times, shared a public platform with him back circa mid sixties in Patrick Street Cork during protests re a “Courtesy” visit to Cork by the British War Ship, “The H.M.S. Still gives away far too many stupid fouls though.
