Uefa target Milan on FFP, action on others in June

164

Cynics everywhere were probably stunned last night when the Investigatory Chamber of the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) referred AC Milan to the Adjudicatory Chamber for breach of Financial Fair Play regulations.  The Investigatory Chamber view is that Milan’s circumstances do not permit them to agree a financial settlement – they are pushing for a ban from Uefa competitions.

The Uefa statement concluded by saying the “Investigatory Chamber will further communicate in June its other decisions in relation to the monitoring of the clubs under investigation”.

Taking down big beasts like Milan is a huge political step for Uefa.  If I bought a Scottish club three years ago, with an unfulfilled commitment to have a Nominated Advisor in place “within 48 hours”, I would be worried my expected 180 minute European season could be in jeopardy.

Fortunately, Dave King has more to worry about that this.  The Europa League first qualification round is a long way off.

The Scotland’s shame banner , in my opionion , was the most simple and truthful banner about the huns , not as spectacular as the four horsemen display, but got the message across.

The London Calling banner at the Rubentus champions league game to me as a big Clash fan , was excellent.

  2. CRC – June 23rd would have been ideal. On June 30th quite a few on hear will be waking up in Aberdour pledging never to drink again….

I was quite astounded at Kings recent comments regarding the takeover panel not being able to touch him as he has no business interests in the UK. It’s all offshore family trusts etc……

Alarm bells should’ve been ringing within Ibrox and the SFA at the guy taking such a position as he could easily take the same line when the sheriff officers come calling again and leave one almighty mess behind.

Perhaps the penny has dropped with a few of his investors.

  6. Another side splitter from FF:

“you can’t tell me we can’t get a better MF together than Callum McGregor Scott Brown and Ntcham “

Just what are these guys on? Ntcham would now be around £7M or so; McGregor in the same ball park; a leader like Brown would be £10M (as a younger version). So Somewhere in excess of £20m to get a better midfield. Add in Rogic and we are talking £30m+ to get near.

Park Road, thanks for the update on the Girvan score tonight.

Are Girvan caught up in the play off to stay in the top league?

I saw Pollok playing Beith about 6 weeks ago at Newlandsfield.

Pollok were two up , shoud have been more when the Pollok right back stupidly got a second yellow . Beith scored a cracking goal then equalised in the sixth minute of injury time . I was nt that impressed by Beith , if Pollok ad taken their chances , they would have been out of sight before going down to ten men.

Big Mik has been much the same. Fewer passes inside and through the lines and more long diagonals and balls played into the channels. It has made a difference, I thought he was excellent at the weekend.

From an interview with Dave King this month:

There could be severe sanctions – you could be cold shouldered. Won’t that have an implication on the club, as well as you as chairman?

No. First of all, the assumption is they’d achieve that. I don’t think they will. I have spent a lot of my life with people telling me what they are going to do to me. Twenty years. I’m still here. I wouldn’t assume who is going to win that fight. Secondly, sanctions themselves on me would have no impact on me. I don’t do business in the UK. I don’t deal with any institutions. I don’t have public companies in the UK. I would make no difference to me in practice. I would make a decision whether I was comfortable with it or not. And if it is a question of fighting then I’ll… Sanctions would make no difference to me and it would make no difference to Rangers.

This is the guy who is effectively in charge of rangers. Is it any wonder his directors are bailing out.

Jimmynotpaul, another great result for Paddy and Cumbernauld tonight.

If they play Rob Roy in the semi final will it be an away ‘home’ game for them as I believe Rob Roy play their home games in Cumbernauld now ?

Japanese whisky – which one? Tends to be cask strength and sweetish. I’ve got some Nikka ‘From the barrel’, 51.6% ABV – but you’d never know it!

Just for info (you unwittingly ground my gears with this)

Alcohol content in spirits is mostly expressed as percentage of Alcohol by volume (ABV), 40% being typical for most branded U.K. spirits. Another way to measure alcohol content is as a proof value, and is calibrated into degrees. 40% ABV strength, expressed as a proof measure would be 70 degrees proof.

It is a very common misnomer these days, but saying a bottle of spirit is 40% Proof is like saying somebody is six feet kilograms tall. Proof or percent, not both, a drink cannot be 40% Proof.

Of course maybe your keyboard, like mine, does not have a degree symbol, in which case apologies. Enjoy your dram.

  22. On the non watering of the Hampden pitch at halftime…

Brown, though, was adamant that the pitch wasn’t watered during the 15-minute break.

‘Motherwell are a very honest team,’ he said. ‘They play long, direct, very physical but we play football the proper way, we get it down on the floor.

‘They didn’t water the pitch at half-time to try and stop us playing but it didn’t stop us. We still tried to play our game.’

    ———–

It’s been mentioned on here before. The perfect time to highlight these things that are set out to disadvantage us is straight after a victory , no sour grapes rebuke is possible.

Brilliant on the pitch for us and doing a good job highlighting this petty behaviour. The more attention it gets , the harder it becomes for the folk who exist just to hinder us.

How do the people in charge of the pitch care justify not watering it on a tapps aff Glasgow schorcher?

An explanation should be sought imo.

  27. After Saturday, I am all for the SFA opting for Murrayfield or Celtic Park for big games. Hampden really is a dump. I wonder if it really passes health and safety rules. At half-time, I had to wade through urine covered floors in the toilets. (Mind you, they did have hot water!!). Being on the small side, I couldn’t see much of the action, as everyone stood throughout. (Granted the atmosphere was brilliant.)

  28. PARKHEADCUMSALFORD

If they decide to stay at Hampden, which they will, they apparently intend to buy the stadium. If they do this then there has to be an agreement/plan that they will redevelop the two ends, bring closer to the pitch and build steeper two tier stands. Currently the two ends are not fit for purpose, a disgrace, the North Stand is slightly better but could be doing with some redevelopment like the two ends. The South Stand is fine, but since that’s where the money has been spent it should be.

  29. From a Tom English article on the BBC site:

” Former Celtic manager Martin O’Neill, a veteran of this terrain, said last week that this Rangers side is the worst he has ever seen.”

Would that have been in the same interview where O`Neill opined that Celtic need a strong `Rangers` ?

Did I miss the MSSM plugging of his `worst he has seen` comment?
