Let’s not be fooled by Barcelona’s home defeat to Alaves on Saturday. If they again rest Messi, Suarez, Iniesta and Jordi Alba, while contriving to miss the target with multiple chances from inside 10 yards, that result might stand as a guide, but I suspect we’ll see Leo, Luis, Andres and co. tonight. With a point to prove.
On the positive side, we’ve played away 26 games in the Champions League proper and avoided defeat only twice, including a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou. Barcelona also took until added time before scoring a winner against us there four years ago. They are formidable, but we appear to perform better when we know the enormity of the job.
We were back at Camp Nou for game six of the group stage in 2013. It was a dead rubber for Celtic and a must-win game for Barca. It did not go well. That experience is a marker for what can go wrong when you play one of the best teams ever to kick a spherical object.
When Brendan Rodgers perused our Champions League fixtures for opportunities to pick up points, he’ll not have invested too much hope in tonight’s game, but it will serve as the ultimate test for a group of players who look more and more like an impressive team with each passing week.
Let’s enjoy it.
Whoever thought that embarrassing yourself with a ludicrous statement was a wise response to a destabilising defeat should be told to walk away from the keyboard. Yesterday’s statement from across the city was cringe-worthy. Appealing to the lowest common denominator is easy, but you play to an ever-decreasing audience.
The alarm signs for Project Newco Rangers are blaring loud. It will not end well.
Celtic’s response reads like they were listening to the Champions League anthem when writing it. You don’t win a fight with an opponent who has nothing to lose. Don’t stoop to their level, it only contaminates you. There will be more nonsense before the Project ends. It won’t be pretty, but try to enjoy this spectacle too.

Nice boot on your site btw.
Couldn’t watch young bhoys game. For those who did, would you take a similar performance from the first team tonight?
Sequels better than the original?

Young Jack Aitchison will celebrate his 17th birthday on March 5 next year.
DesertBhoy, Just looked it up, Wiki is giving it at 16 as well. Having said that Wiki isn’t always right either.
Baba..,
To be honest I don’t expect the first team to be as close, the difference in class tonight will be much bigger, we should take about four aff them :)
Babasonico, When they stood off them Barca owned the ball, when they had a go they really rattled them and were unlucky not to get the draw.

Macjay would disagree
Young Bhoys did very well – pity 2 slackish passes led to Barca 2nd goal.
Thought ref was a bit of a homer – quite a few times we won the ball and the Barca player went down easy and got a free-kick.
Think our Bhoys wilted a bit in the heat towards full time. Credible performance.
He well might Aurora, I’m afraid MacJay & myself don’t see eye to eye. One of the very few here that I wouldn’t want to meet, so I tend to skip past his offerings.
Hopefully Atchinson , rolston and Miller keep progressing like they are.
Be wonderful to see all 3 make senior squad within next year or so.
from newco’s site
‘The Ibrox gaffer pointed to a number of areas of Rangers’ ideal game that didn’t come to fruition at Parkhead’
jeez, now even a game is a metaphysical concept
ideally, we’ll scrape by with a 4 – 4 draw tonight
CANAMALAR…

Young Bhoys played with a lot of Celtic heart and spirit. Also no lack of skill.
Very unlucky to loose.
Another few mins and I reckon we’d have got an equaliser

Is everybody waiting on the “live updates”?
Lads
Friend of mine has a horse with Brian Ellison
He told me earlier that Ellison fancied Jordan James (just won the 5.15 at Carlisle) and Mikro Polemists 7.15 Carlisle ( 10/1)
Good luck if you dabble
Places in Inverness to watch the game tonight, at the moment I’m going to the Fluke any other suggestions? H H Hebcelt

HEBCELT
There’ll be 3 posters along in a minute recommending pubs in Inverness.

For those with an iPhone who want to hear Zadoc ring out when you get a call, download it fro the App store, 99p.
I’m sure ACGR won’t mind me telling you that, downloading from iTune etc is a pain.
So, where in Cambridge will the game be on?
Decided to stay at home and watch the game, rather than go to some overpriced bar.
Plant pot moved strategically next to the telly, just in case it’s thick foliage is required in front of the screen…
Bottles of outstanding of cider from the Olympic Peninsula in Washington chilling, and the missus is doing me an antipasti plate TallyBhoy would be proud to serve in his ain hoose.

PLEASE, DON’T EVER COME BACK AGAIN
Dear Rangers supporters- never come back to Barcelona again. And not because your players themselves aren’t a legitimate team. No, it’s not because of that- the Nou Camp frequently hosts teams who are lazy, boring, who only defend, who run and kick their opponents, and who shouldn’t be in elite competition. On top of this, Rangers merely defend, run at the opposition and play dirty. Their defenders are butchers, their midfielders, heavy-footed; and their strikers just stand there like the furniture. Laughing
But even apart from the footballing aspect, the best thing would be for Rangers never to return to Barcelona, because every time they do, they make a mess of the place. 35 years ago, you (the Rangers supporters) destroyed the seats at the Nou Camp. This time we have enjoyed no less than 48 hours of brawls, provocation, rackets, fights and common drunk women throughout the whole city, which you have fouled however you pleased.
Stay at home and vomit in your own living-room, urinate in your sitting-room corners, fight with your neighbours, the Celtic supporters (who deserve a prize just for putting up with you) and foul the streets of Glasgow instead. Don’t come back here again, because it is not a laughing matter. And, by extension, don’t play in the Champions’ League either. You are not at that level neither in a sporting nor human sense.
There are noisy groups of supporters who, although they drink vast amounts of beer, make friends at the same time. But you? Not you, because everywhere you go, you turn into a rubbish tip. You are undesirables. And so are those who fraudulently sell, or “rent out” their tickets. These people screw Barca over, because they trade their season tickets illegally. And in doing this they cause massive annoyance for other members of the club. A true Barcelona fan would not re-sell their ticket for the match. If you are not going to the match, give it to a family member, or you could even use the ‘Seient Lliure’ service (an automated ticket service used by some Spanish clubs including Barcelona).
From now on, the responsibility lies with UEFA and the club itself to ensure who the ticket is sold to. The best thing for all of us would be that you as a supporter, in a moment of lucidity, decide not to travel if you do not have tickets. As that is never going to happen, those who sell the tickets illegally must be brought to justice. But the best thing would be if we never had to play Rangers again.

NOTTHEBUS…
I mind reading that years ago, well said El Mundo.
Re the Sevs and sectarianism. A bit like Alphonse Capone asking teenagers to moderate their language……. as its offensive to others. On that same sectarian theme just finished reading the Shankhill Defenders unambiguous condemnation of effigies of the Blessed Virgin Mary being placed on the 11 July bonfires ( not ).
We are driven by a love of the club . They are motivated by hatred which becomes almost pathological when it comes to all things RC .
Credit to Speirsy for his recent tweet vis the sheer irony of last nights statement from the Sevs / L5.
Getting ready to go out and watch the game.
No matter how we do, remember, apart from the other 30 teams in the CHAMPIONS League, there are thousands of teams ( 1 only 5 mile from our home) who would love to be in our position.
No word of Celtic selling tickets to the CHAMPIONS league for non ST holders. Anyone who cannot make a game would be quick happy to fill in before I go back to Indonesia
buena suerte Celtic

Interesting selection.
We have the pace to do them damage, use it Celtic.
