Uncommon penalties and chaotic weeks of back-biting

782

Kris Commons looked like he had put a lot of practice into taking penalties yesterday.  The ball was firmly hit and found the corner of the net, a feat which is far from impossible but which has been beyond various Celtic players for the last few years.  We have little a little over a month before we could face a penalty kick competition against Juventus.  Penalty kick practice should be on the menu every day between now and then, for the entire squad.

I’m delighted Lukasz Zaluska has had an extended run in the team.  No player will be at his best if he is seldom tested and never in important games.  Lukasz carried his share of the blame for last weekend’s Hampden defeat but not every keeper can pull off a Nigel Spink.  Good to have Fraser back for Inverness.

If you read on a Celtic site that The Rangers chief executive and chairman are “at loggerheads” after “a chaotic week of back-biting” or that there is a prospect they will “frighten the life out of those institutional investors who ploughed £17million into the coffers little more than a month ago”, you would be forgiven for discounting the claim as a case of wishful thinking.

When it comes from the Daily Record and recent colleague of the club’s newly installed head of media you can be sure there is a little more to it than that.

You would think with all the positive feedback Green and Murray would have received form the SPL Commission they would be flush with joys.  I sincerely hope, for their sake, that Phil’s Bridge over Troubled Waters ditty was more wishful thinking than another leak from the media team.  That would be embarrassing.  “Squelch.”

  1. Re Sevco Shares, I am absolutely certain that there is skullduggerry going on both in the initial raising of 22 million and in the rigging of share price since then. There are various ways of raising funds, apart from actually purchasing the shares in a straight forward way & stumping up the Cash. I reckon the bulk of the “Institutional” money was some kind of debt for equity, or pledges with strings attached, re the Share Price, the Supporters were allocated circa 10 million and only subscribed for half of that, yet amazingly whilst the Shares were offered at 70p they opened at 76p and quickly rose to 93p since then they have been slipping down gently and presently stand at 83p. There is no rationale at all for any of those Share movements. As Victor Meldrew might say, “I Don’t Believe It”.

  2. McKuen leaves forest – we can run a sweep on how long it takes him to get a big radioland cuddle from the sycophantic talksport duo with a hun penchant.

If he gets his gear cleared away quick, he might make it on before 1pm today. List of sympathy and forced laughter.

Word is, McLiesh was uneasy at forest from the start, as he only signed one contract. Anybody questioning this would get a ‘right hand’.

    Get it up ye Alex.

  3. Livi, I reckon the emergency Goal-Keeper could be added either way and it would not be necessary to keep a slot open for that eventuality. If Celtic were not hampered by the “Home Grown” and just opted to leave the squad one short, it doesn’t make sense. O.K. If for any reason Paddy being left out, but in those circumstances whats the Logic in omitting Rogic. (Sorry couldn’t resist that one.)

I totally agree and it leaves us short for a spot when anyone could get injured between now and the Juventus match.

Praying we have no further injuries but there are a few games between now and the 2nd leg and there are a lot of heavy pitches and hammer throwers to be faced in the next few weeks.

Really confused by it all. Rogic is new and I would have expected McCourt to get the slot but not having anyone seems very strange.

An unbelievable response from Strathclyde’s finest. Maybe its just me getting older, but I believe that the calibre of Polis officer gets lower with each passing year.Plain and simple common sense e seems to be replaced with Army style “do as your told” jobsworth recruits.

Their response to the shame game was more like a plug for polis overtime that the SNP used instead as an excuse for a new anti fitba fan law.

But you know it’s not all bad news, the fact that the boys in blue can devote so much time, energy and effort into such trivial matters must mean that all the murderers, rapists and housebreakers and conmen of Glesga have all been caught and taken care of.

The manpower used by the police on Sunday to check buses for alcohol was astounding.

It appears that being a fitba fan is a dangerous pastime these days.

On (I think) TFSM there was some speculation that there really weren’t many (any?) institutional inesssturzzz at all. That, as you say, the Ticketus Spivs and the Whyte Spivs, who lost out when Rangers died, have acquired shares in the new outfit in exchange for debt.

It may all be conspiracy talk but, circumstantially, we know that Whyte and Ticketus have been VERY quiet. (That there is also a distinct lack of legal manoeuvring in that regard.) And that, based on the prospectus no serious institutional investors would have touched this.

Given the Green Spivs and the Ticketus and Whyte Spivs own the vast majority of shares, they can presumably keep the price pretty much where they like, before bailing out to ra Bears at some point to redeem their Spiv Tokens.

I wouldn’t claim to be an expert but there may be some element of possibility here.

Are these checks and intimidation being carried out against travelling supporters of all teams , perhaps the CSA could speak with other clubs supporters groups to find out if this is the case .

If other supporters group are not experiencing this level of surveillance then the CSA and Celtic should be demanding answers.

  9. Clearly, whilst enjoying his favourite pastime of hide & seek, Richard III never heard the cry “the games a bogey”.

Cheers , so we can take it from that football supporters are being unfairly treated by the police service across Scotland .

What can be done about this , if anything .
