Someone made the point to me over the weekend, 30 goals, and counting, from midfield, rivals 53 from Henrik Larsson as a central striker. It is an unnecessary burden to compare Kris Commons to Celtic’s greatest player in four decades, even Henrik couldn’t compare to the memory of Henrik, but the history books will show for decades to come, Kris Commons is a rare gem, a Celtic player for the ages.
He’s the definition of a Moneyball player, he’s a great multiple Player of the Year and he’s ours.

PFayr, We brought in more than Balde & Pukki. Van Dijk, Biton, Johansen,Griffiths are 4 decent players that add positively to squad. If you bring in 7 new players you will have some disappointments. That is the nature of the game.

You could also argue that Henrik had two towering center forward partners to support and provide for him. Would Henrik have scored so many without the brilliance of Chris Sutton’s holding talents? They were a match made in heaven, of which we will be unlikely to see again soon. By comparison our Kris feeds off scraps, which makes his goal tally all the more remarkable.

As for Vic and Hooper …they were not replaced adequately because we trousered half their fees in fear of not making the CL group stages
Which unfortunately left us with a team not fit for purpose in the CL
Sell players if they want to leave by all means …replace them with adequate replacements tho
Our scouting system seems to be in positive purely on money in and out, so must be doing the right things. Once that stops being the case then it should be changed.

Biton looks very tasty when patrolling the back and I would argue his ball control exceeds Victors. I agree Hooper was not replaced. Our precocious LG, who came six months too late, can and shall develop into a player if he can get his head right.
