UNDER THE RADAR, LENNON SIGNS YOUNG CELTIC MIDFIELDER

NEIL LENNON moved to sign a new midfielder from Celtic but it was not Liam Henderson as many had predicted.

Instead he has looked to the excellent Celtic Development Squad to take Innes Murray to Easter Roar on a permanent deal.

The 18 year old midfielder played a crucial role in last season’s Development side which remained undefeated throughout the season and comfortably won the league. He also featured for the young Hoops in both the UEFA Youth League and the Premier League International Cup.

Celtic’s first team squad remains a little overcrowded with midfielders and Brendan Rodgers has stated from his arrival at the club that he wishes to work with a more compact squad. Chances for players like Innes Murray would be limited so his move to experience first team football under the former Celtic manager, who knows him well, can only be a positive for the teenager.

Henderson enjoyed a loan spell at Easter Road last season and played a crucial role in the Scottish Cup Final win over The “Rangers” at Hampden Park.

With his side 2-1 down, Henderson came off the bench and delivered two matching winning corner kicks to win the Scottish Cup for Hibs and deny the latest Ibrox club their first ever major honour.
