Underestimating teams in August, win Walfrid hospitality tomorrow

923

You and I have enough recent experience to know teams we’ve never heard of, or know little about, cannot be underestimated when it comes to European football.  We should expect, and will get, a very difficult game tomorrow.

The good news is that Hapoel Beer Shiva have lost goals in three consecutive matches after a solid defensive run which saw them keep 8 clean sheets in 12 games.  But they scored four while conceding in two of those games, the only reversal coming at home to Ashdod in the League Cup last midweek.

They shut up shop away from home in their two earlier Champions League qualifying rounds at Sheriff in Moldova after a narrow 3-2 home win, they kept out Olympiakos before winning the return 1-0 in the last round.

Unlike in previous years, we are not facing a team midseason in the playoff round; Hapoel have had a few cup games but will not open their league season until Saturday.

Hospitality for 3 people at Celtic-Hapoel Beer Shiva at Walfrid Restaurant

Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, have given us three tickets for fantastic hospitality at the Walfrid Restaurant, before, during and after tomorrow’s night’s Champions League qualifier.  This is another money can’t buy opportunity for three people to watch Celtic in a hugely important game in sumptuous comfort.

Anyone can enter the competition, however, as this prize of so incredible, I’d like everyone who enters to donate a recommended £10 to the good work of the Celtic Foundation.

You can donate at this MyDonate page.

The Celtic Foundation work to improve Health, promote Equality, encourage Learning and tackle Poverty (H.E.L.P.) in Scotland, the rest of the UK and Ireland, and worldwide.  It’s your Foundation, you built and maintain its good work.

A few guidelines for the raffle:

Raffle closes at 21:00 BST TONIGHT, so there’s not a lot of time and I’m not expecting many entries.  You will not be entered into the competition if you donate or apply afterwards.

Enter with an email address you are going to check later tonight or early tomorrow, add a phone number, if you like.

You can enter two ways:

By making a recommended £10 donation to Celtic FC Foundation here.  Then email me at celticquicknews@gmail.com with Walfrid in the subject line, to make sure I can get in touch with you.

Or

By emailing me the names of every Celtic shirt sponsor and official kit manufacturer.  Ever. To celticquicknews@gmail.com

One of the above will be pretty easy for most of us.  The other will be pretty difficult.  Do the easy one.

Great prize.  Only open for a few hours so there will be little competition.  Go for it!

Thank you, and thanks to Intelligent Car Leasing for supporting our fundraising efforts.

Don’t know about in here as I haven’t read backbut I see from elsewhere that Peter Lawell getting it tight again because of some of the big game seekers having to fork out £49 for the forthcoming Rangers game at Celtic Park and £30 for a concession. Well tough titty ………..if yer not prepared to give up the equivalent price of your ten pints to go and watch Celtic ,just sit in the pub and watch it just like every other week, you really won’t be missed.

£40 for the equivalent match five years ago and not many complaints from anyone having to fork out £28 to get their wean into Tyncastle a fortnight ago

But it’s all Peter Lawells fault isn’t it

I see that the 5 million that Rangers were due to pay Ashley back and announced to that effect and trumpeted by the MSM has not actually been paid or at least it is disputed. As I believe that was the condition to dilute the number of shares in RRL from 100 to 200. or am I wrong ? Now that RRL have stated that this is not the case and that the 100 shares were issued in error. This is good news for the huns surely .. in that there has not been dirty money laundered through Ibrox from from Hong Kong. Well possibly not being accepted by SD. Could this by why the lights are still on. The perception is that they have paid it back ..but is it actually this money that is currently being used having not been accepted by SD ?

  10. Nobody really knows if there is going to be a protest tomorrow night or not. Or in the case that there will be just who will or wont be taking part.

When I say nobody I mean nobody except the oracles on CQN.

Apparently we now know how many there will be (0.25% of the support)

    Who they will be.

(the GB, daft wee boys, plastic supporters)

and how committed to their politics they are

(armchair generals, once a year fleg wavers)

    .

As it is a Euromillion night tonight could one of you J Titor types post up tonights numbers.

The only thing I know about tomorrow night is that Paradise will be filled with Celtic supporters

“We are pleased to announce that payment has today been sent to Sportsdirect.com Retail Limited of the full amount of the loan facilities provided by that company to The Rangers Football Club Limited.”

Repaying the loan means King’s board will re-assume control of club assets such as Murray Park and its world-famous badges, which were handed to Ashley as security. Rangers will also regain majority control of their retail income.

    DID Sports Direct confirm ?

  13. embramike says "the Huns are Deid" on

On the subject of ‘Support Palestine Flags’, there was in Edinburgh City centre today outside the Usher Hall a “Support for Palestine” tent resplendent with Palestine Flags – all very visible at the height of the Edinburgh Festival.

If our fans want to protest around this week’s fixture with Be’er Sheva, why not do the same thing outside the ground and away from UEFA competition jurisdiction?

The Israeli team will presumably be training at CP this evening so why not then ? The point will still be made.

I may support the Palestinian cause, but as an ST and share holder I cannot support deliberate and premeditated reputational and financial damage to our club.

We need to plough all available monies into strengthening our squad for the challenges ahead, not paying needless fines caused by protestors whose efforts will do more damage than good.

There is also the problems it may cause for any fans travelling to the away leg next week. Don’t think that group will include too many of the anonymous proposed home leg flag wavers.

  14. Hail Hail CQNers

Due to an unexpected opportunity I am travelling home to Glasgow tomorrow. Does anyone have a spare brief for the match or any info on where I might pick one up. Arriving about 4 pm

    Thanks in anticipation.

  15. Schoolboy question here.

I paid for my tickets before they went on general sale.

I’m assuming my season tickets are activated and I’m not sitting here waiting for a ticket/print at home?

Sure I’m ok. But too important a night yo take a chance!

    Thanks in advance.

  16. if celtic signed a player from Palestine, could we fly the flag above the stadium without getting fined ?

  17. Those in any doubt that certain anonymous individuals are determined to protest and encourage others to tomorrow night no matter the cost to Celtic FC have a look. Seen a comment posted earlier that some things are more important than Celtic FC well if that the case why don’t you donate the money that you spend following Celtic FC to that more important cause

I think today´s Regan squirrel along with the RRL financials being released is too much of a coincidence and is linked to Peter Lawwel’s resignation from the SFA professional gaming board. Can anyone join the dots ? :-)

Now you can be banned for the waving of a flag?

Maybe every fan should should carry the Palestinian flag tomorrow then take these Dregs to the European Court of Human Rights.

Have Ajax ever been fined for the waving of the Israeli flag?
