UNIQUE ANGLE: SAINTS AND WINNERS WITH GIAKOUMAKIS

1

GIORGOS GIAKOUMAKIS enjoys scoring goals against St Johnstone – as the Greek hitman demonstrated so admirably once again at the weekend.

The powerhouse frontman claimed his first-ever Hoops strike against the Perth side at Parkhead on October 23 last year in a 2-0 win.

On that occasion, Giakoumakis proved why Ange Postecoglou had paid £2.5million to Dutch minnows VVV-Venglo for his penalty-box predatory instincts when he lashed an Anthony Ralston right-wing cross beyond the helpless Zander Clark.

The Hoops went on to win 2-0 with Josip Juranovic tucking away a splendidly-taken penalty-kick.

PICK IT OUT…Giorgos Giakoumakis fires Alexandro Bernabei’s left-wing cross past Remi Matthews for the incredible stoppage-time winner.

And Giakoumakis joined the goal spree against Callum Davidson side’s at the same venue on April 9 when he claimed one as the champions-elect thumped in seven without reply. Matt O’Riley (2), Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, Liel Abada and Juranovic, with another spot-kick, piled on the misery for the visitors.

And the 27-year-old international forward made certain of victory again on Saturday in the most dramatic of circumstances when he turned in a left-wing ball from Alexandro Bernabei only 70 seconds after the home side had levelled through Alex Mitchell.

It’s certainly worth another look thanks to the lads at Celtic TV Unique Angle.

Enjoy!
