United caught in good but fragile football trap

405

It could be a big weekend in the race for the Premiership with Celtic away to bottom club Dundee United tonight and Aberdeen at fifth placed Ross County on Sunday. The gap at the top is currently three points, with Celtic having a game in hand. Tonight’s result will give the league table a true look, at least until Sunday afternoon.

Those of us of a certain heritage cannot take a trip to Tannadice lightly. Despite seeing United relegated since their 80s peak, they were never a bad team. Even now, cut adrift at the foot of the table, they play far better football than any other team I can remember in that position.

The recent Dundee derby was a case in point. United had the lead and should have buried Dundee before the fragility which has stalked United this season caught up with them. Tonight’s game will present a different proposition. Unlike against Dundee, when they went looking to put the game to bed, United will be far more cautious against Celtic, who will have to do their usual shift against a packed defence.

Despite this, United are bottom for a reason. They’ve won two of 21 league games, are 11 points from the play-off spot and need to pull something spectacular out of the bag this month to avoid relegation.

Three points, please, Celtic.

Wasn’t Charles Green’s appeal taking place today as well? The one about getting his legal fees paid?

I think the judge is trying to say that as their losses are decreasing there seems no immediate danger of them going ,out of business and therefore no need to make an order freezing the money allegedly owed to the wifi company.Let it go through the court process etc.

Or else he is just saying WATP

If it was a case between Joe Bloggs Builders and Joe Bloggs Cement Providers no one would bat an eyelid at the decision ( we want our money now cos they coud go bust, no we wont go bust,Ok you have to wait)

But because its a company that pretends its Rangers everyone on here gets paranoid.

Rangers are dead …Or are they

I agree.. very strange judicial system in Scotland.

    There is a darkness there.

    That’s interesting. Very.

    Unrelatedly: So’s perjury.

  6. Or is it that the lawyers who are say on the wifi company’s payroll, are not giving a 100% , it’s worth a thought, they could all be in it together, kinda looks that way, are Sevcos lawyers that good?

I’m afraid it is down to the Court of Last Appeal, I.e., fans, to achieve justice in Scottish football.

However, apart from Aberdeen fans, there appears to be no appetite amongst the rest to even register a token protest against the SFA.

Did Warbs really say they wouldn’t “break the bank” for a player?

Errrr – which bank would that be!???

  9. CQN paranoid.

It’s a conspiracy. Cause even if they don’t say it , I just know their thinking it.

  10. I dont think HMRC had any say in who was appointed as administrators, if I remember correctly Whyte got to choose, I haven’t a clue if this is normal practice.

Only lost £500K over six months eh?

Well if you bring in season ticket money worth £8.5 million in the first month and spend £1.5 million per month for six months then indeed you have only lost 500k in 6 months.

Nothing to see here, move on.

  13. You often wonder if the lawyers who are with the companies taking thems to court are not giving 100% , my good I’m just thinking as I post this, am I to paranoid, or not paranoid enough?

  14. I seem to remember reading on here that the first six months of the accounts are usually the healthiest, profit/loss wise, as you have all the season ticket income up front. The next six months are where the losses show up as you have spent the up front cash and are now relying on cash at the turnstiles and merchandise sales, ha ha, or your overdraft facilities, assuming you have one. So even with upfront ST sales Sevco still posted a loss for the six months to December. They are fecked, which is nice. I just hope they have the decency to stay dead this time.

  15. Only £500000 loss so far this season.

    Hmmmmm.

Of course, if you do not pay bills, including one of £300000, then it is easy to make your finances look good.

Would have been surprised by a decision to ringfence the financial assets of Handtomouth Co but I am surprised re how little they are allegedly losing .. Suggests somebody is supplying them with in and out ad hoc cash .

  18. Players out of Contract at the end of the season

Derk Boerrigter (option of additional year), Stuart Findlay, Darnell Fisher, James Forrest, Charlie Mulgrew

I can see all of them going.

Forrest has allegedly been offered a new deal on a reduced wage.

  19. Why has no one be charged with perjury or at least contempt of court when they said they had paid MASH the £5M?

  20. Also if Celtic take a player from Man City on loan both CEO and Manager should be forced out or scrap Academy and Lennoxtown and Sack Parks .. Scott Allen? Why? Blackett? Why?

  21. Coming to a Stadium near you soon

It’s just a couple of young lads having fun and bringing a bit of atmosphere to the stadium innit ??? Just a pity if you were there to actually watch a game of football

Any business concern which doesn’t demand money up front from Sevco ain’t gonna get paid. Any business concern which takes them to court STILL ain’t gonna get paid.

I think there.s a lesson there for all businesses

  23. We have said all along….that ultimately, no court in Scotland will convict them of anything.

Its too boring and obvious to state the reasons why.

Let me put it this way.

    That’s the way Scotland is.

And that is what they are telling you.

We will do what we like.

If it is true that JF has been offered reduced terms, then that is equivalent to his P45.

Clubs are obliged to offer players new terms at the end of their contracts and it is usually an older, pre retirement player, who accepts the reduced deal.

James, at his age, should be looking for a much improved offer, going by this stage of his career.
