Urgency behind SFL plan

812

Dictionaries across the English speaking world will need to be updated for the term ‘loose cannon’, currently- noun, a person whose reckless behaviour endangers the efforts or welfare of others.  In future they should be appended, ‘Charles Green’.

For months Charles has been busy telling anyone who would listen to him that his The Rangers club will never appear in the Scottish Premier League.  Now, he has told the world the Scottish Football League are set to propose reconstruction which would see the end of the SPL and create one fewer step between his new club and top flight football.  He told TalkSport, “I understand that the Football League [presumably he means the SFL]on Wednesday are having a meeting of clubs and it’s the intention of the executive to unveil what they think would be a restructuring plan for Scottish football.”

Green is one of the few from the SFL who have had anything to do with the plan, few were aware of it until his announcement yesterday.  I hear the other architects of the plan inside the SFL are chief executive, David Longmuir and Airdrie United director, Jim Ballantye.  My source also told me SFA president, Campbell Ogilvie was “in on the ground floor with the SFL plans”.  They will all, surely, be frustrated that Green was out there with the news before the league were.

As STV today reported, the SFA have set a deadline of 30 November for the leagues to agree a reconstruction plan, “threatening they would instead push through with their own plans to bring about change by the 2013/14 season if an agreement could not be reached”.  That’s next summer!

Timing here is everything, and is urgent.

The SPL Commission will soon convene into Improper Registration of Players at Rangers…
the predecessor club of The Rangers…
whose SFA membership The Rangers benefited from in order to compete in league football with less than three years accounts…
and who consequently are liable for penalties served on Rangers.

If found guilty, and no one is holding to the pretence otherwise anymore, the consequences for The Rangers are enormous.  Forget about the inevitable stripping of titles, this is of historical consequence only, prize money [of circa £15m]will also be reclaimed and a punishment levied.

As I have said before, the toxicity of the old club is simply not viable to continue with.  Newco Rangers either have to start from scratch, or the structures of Scottish football need to brought down with any penalties due wiped from the slates.

The Rangers share prospectus, now overdue, will have to detail these risks to the company unless an alternative narrative can be agreed and presented.

The chances of the SPL giving this Longmuir, Ballantyne and Ogilvie plan serious consideration are remote.  It is a nonsense, will be rejected by the SPL and may even face opposition from those clubs within the Scottish Football League who stand to benefit from the change, but will find the motivations behind it unsupportable.

Scottish football is enjoying a well-earned renewal this season, no thanks to the game’s administrators, but the serious allegation, that many leagues and cups were won for over a decade by a club which was paying players against the tax laws of the country and against SFA, SPL and Fifa regulations, has yet to be resolved.

Until we know the truth, hear the consequences, know that those responsible are no longer in control of the game and have been banned for life from future involvement, there can be no talk of expedient change.

STV’s revelation that the SFA have imposed a 30 November deadline is the greatest illustration yet why “heavily conflicted” Campbell Ogilvie should have been on garden leave months ago. All those who carried out the duties which led to this shambles, and who have legal responsibility for it, should receive the life ban from the game that was promptly applied to Craig Whyte.

A swift rebuttal of this nonsense with a clearing of the decks is required. There can be no discussions on these matters while inquiries are on-going and those responsible for recent events are still running the game.

  1. QWuote ‘the cycle of prosperity; a child is a communist who wants to share all his toys, a teenager is an anarchist who wants to topple authority, a student is a socialist who wants to distribute wealth, a young businessman is a capitalist because he wants to get to the top and reap individual awards, an older man is social democrat because he wants to give back and through his experience help his fellow man, an elderly man is a communist because he needs those around him to support him as he approaches death… every ideology has been tried and none really works for long.

Every country needs to help the poorer more – but we need the capitalists and entrepreneurs to drive industry to create wealth… the democrats to make sure everyone is fairly treated, the socialists to keep a check on the capitalists and the communists to make sure the poorer get their fair share… the problem in all prosperous countries is that the balance of the ‘isms’ is unfairly weighted… ‘

Always moving, especially when Ramie is interviewed. I would like to send Martin a card if his address can be emailed by someone?

  4. guiltylurker – Suggesting we need a little bit of communism is like suggesting a little bit of dog poo in your ice cream won’t hurt you.

There’s a reason why Ben and Jerry don’t sell dog poo ice cream, and there’s a reason why communism resulted in poverty, failure, and mass murder. (thumbsup)

    Transparency follows Sporting Integrity!

The first time I heard the term Sporting Integrity used was to try and force Rangers FC to play 4 games in 7 days prior to the 2008 Uefa cup final. The manager who was asking for this to be upheld was facing a Rangers side which were revitalised by the return of a Legend, the one and only Walter Smith.

The manager in question knew his team were struggling and in order to gain an advantage in the league, he demanded that Rangers complete the domestic season and compete in Europe at the same time as Sporting Integrity demanded it.

I can not for the life of me, remember which Celtic Manager it was. To be honest, at the time, I couldn’t care less and still cant.

What I do care about was the twisting of the facts to suit a single clubs demand for an UNFAIR advantage. This was not to be as the league had already been shortened by 1 week for an international friendly due to be played the week the league originally had been intended to finish. This friendly had been called off and so the league was allowed to finish on it’s original date.

This was used by every keyboard warrior with a laptop to decry Rangers and those running the game as being in cahoots, of running an agenda. Ofcourse, the fact that their team was then given extra time to prepare for the last game of the season was just written off as a consequence of the SFA’s bias towards Rangers. The fact that to have been forced to play the 4 games within 7 days would have actually been illegal under FIFA rules were conviently forgotton like so many others have been since that day!

On that day a ideological term was perverted to suit one teams quest for a sporting advantage, which is one of the greatest oxymorons of them all, as to gain an advantage by illicit means is never going to be sporting.

Little did the Rangers supporters know that the term used that day would be used only 4 years later and in such a twisted way that it too will always be remembered as just another oxymoron.

During the 2010/11 season a new celtic manager had emerged, having learnt his tradecraft well, he would twist another ideological term to suit his own agenda. This time the term used was ‘transparency’ and the demand was issued not against the SFA or even another club.

This time the target was the Men in Black, yes the referees were biased and their right to control a game was up for grabs.

Celtic had been denied a penalty and the referee was to blame, the decision didn’t alter the final result.

But in trying to cover the blunder when faced with a raging ediface that is Neil Lennon, the referee made another blunder and lied.

This was a chance of a lifetime, and the Celtic Family weren’t about to let it go. They pushed every button they could and eventually the referee in question resigned (as he should have much earlier).

The problem was other referees didn’t appreciate the pressure they were under and the SFA, under Stuart Regans control, did nothing to back them up.

So the referees went on strike at the start of the 2011/12 season and again the men charged with governing our game let them down. Instead of backing them up they botched it!

They then almost caused an international incident by importing foreign referees either by lying to them about why the strike was on, or by not disclosing the true nature of the dispute!

Once they learnt the truth some of these referees refused to officiate the games, irrespective of whether they would be paid or not! They showed true integrity!

Under mounting pressure for the season to continue the referees eventually gave in and a dangerous precedent had been set.

From that day on Celtic FC has been given every ‘sporting advantage’ they could ever ask for. Any 50-50 decision goes their way. In only one season Celtic have received over 40% less free kicks given against them and cards issued for those fouls commited have been equally less forth coming from the officials, while those that have to play against them see an almost equal increase in free kicks given against them with a corresponding number of cards issued.

I dont blame the referees for this change, and I haven’t seen enough of an improvement in one of the poorest Celtic squads in years to justify this level of reduction. The only person that should be held accountable for the advantages that Celtic received last season is Stuart Regan, he allowed the referees to be intimidated and abused. But not by Rangers FC as Vladimir Romanov claimed when he announced to the world that he would be voting out a ‘mafia’ club.

Todays failure by all the MSM sources to publish the full and total attendances at parkhead this weekend has shown that once again Celtic FC’s ideology for Sporting Integrity is as low as their demands for transparency was on that fateful day.

Only 4 days after probably the clubs greatest ever win, they would rather deny anyone the knowledge that the stands were more than half empty than admit that Armageddon might not have happened YET! But it’s certainly on its way!

The refusal to publish any attendances for a league match doesn’t hide the pityful state of affairs inside the SPL it highlights them!

In the end not only has Sporting Integrity been shown to be nothing more than an agenda driven tool for those corrupt parties inside the Cabal oF Corruption, but now, so has Transparency been so exposed!

Those in the MSM who have aided & abetted with this agenda should hang their heads with shame, they have failed in their public duty and they have failed in their professional duty. Perhaps it’s time that they followed the example of that referee who accepted his failures and eventually did the right thing.

They are not alone those governing our game have all shown an equal level of contempt for their customers and each and every one of them should do the honourable thing and resign, now before they do the sport any further damage. The only problem is that not only do these men not have any honour they dont even have the concept of what honour actually is!
