Use Wolfsburg to find desperately needed sharpness

1058

If you’ve been here for a while you’ll have noticed I don’t pay much attention to preseason friendlies but tomorrow’s game against Wolfsburg takes on a more serious tone after Tuesday’s reversal – Celtic desperately need to find sharpness.

Despite the well-placed confidence that we’ll cope comfortably at Celtic Park on Wednesday against Lincoln Red Imps, the serious challenges will come thick and fast thereafter.

Players need to find their edge and the manager needs to learn who goes where and works with whom. It’s just about possible for us to get things together, but whoever we pull out of the hat in today’s provisional third qualifying round draw will be delighted to catch a team in apparent flux.

All this brings us back to Wolfsburg’ a much needed test.

  1. The victory achieved by the Res 12 guys hasn’t yet been fully understood.

Not all the behind the scenes happenings have been made public.

Tactics played a huge part and many participants had their own to employ. The Res 12 guys – aided by hundreds of CQNers – out foxed them all, Celtic, the SFA, the media and UEFA.

There is fatigue in the ranks and you have to ask is it worth their while continuing when you get abused by your own. It hurts, bad.

    Corkcelt – great post btw.

Paradise bound, might see a few at the CQN Corner.

  2. I’m not really bothered by friendlies but after Gibraltar today’s game suddenly became important. Not so much about result but about performance, set up and who plays where.

The Bhoys need a confidence boost, ideally in a competitive game but we don’t have that luxury so today’s game must do.

    Kill joy,

Res12 was adjourned, which is why it’s still live and the Plc are forced to make statements every year at the AGM’s about it.

    ————————-

I don’t know hat you’re on about. The last Resolution 12 on the AGM agenda was in 2014: Scottish Living Wage Employer.

With regard to ‘publish and be damned’, it may be your style, but I’ve never been in the business of grassing, and I’m not going to start now.

Bit of fitba in that midfield yet id say quite a few would think it lacks steel.

Funnily enough there wasn’t much of it in a few of the best teams that i have seen like the recent Spanish side and France 84.

Not comparing those 3 to Platini, Tigana and Giresse btw!

Just think it is a conundrum for any of our managers to try to play 2 types of games……the one in European competition and the Scottish version of the sport!

A crowd of Villarreal fans we met last night at the festival asked me the very same question about Tuesday. What is going wrong at Paradise? Biffy Clyro and Chemical Brothers were amazing.

Tuesday was an example of what WAS wrong. Only one new signing in that team.

I’ve just called the Hangar, and spoken with the American owner, but they are not showing the game.

I’ll watch the game on my laptop in the hotel, then head down to the old town area on the Metro, and have a steak at the Organique Josper Bar.

  14. Kill Ultra – I’ve been following your chat with Canamalar because I’m interested in how somebody not involved seemingly has such detailed inside info.

However why on earth are you even mentioning Resolution 12 of the 2014? Are you deliberately obfuscating? It’s utterly irrelevant to the campaign of Canamalar et al.

  15. I honestly cannot understand why the posters who are anti Res12 don’t just move on or away. To let it become so important in your life is puzzling.

I can’t see how they are part of a conspiracy with the Celtic board. If the retention of the Old Firm was the intention then its job done! TRFC are in the top tier. So why are the Res12 guys still plodding on with the resolution? On their own without the help of Celtic? It doesn’t make sense.

ps I don’t believe in the ‘Old Firm’.

  16. Gordon; Lustig, Sviatchenko, O’Connell; Brown, McGregor; Roberts, Armstrong, Tierney; Griffiths, Dembele. (LA)

  17. Subs: Fasan, Fisher, Ambrose, Ajer, Janko, Henderson, Allan, Christie, Rogic, Forrest, Ciftci.

  18. Good god, thats a bit of a change. not only in personnel but in formation.

It will either be brilliant or terrifying

Mentioned last night I never saw efe of bitton on the latest training video……hopefully see ajer get a run in the midfield too

  19. Corkcelt – the voice of reason as always.

What I find really irritating are the people that post maybe 10 times an hour every day and it seems they’re rarely away from the blog.

We all know who they are.

The other irritant is the abuse from people who disagree. On the rare time I’ve had an argument here, I said my piece and mentioned wasn’t hanging round to see the replies.

Why can’t the arguers just argue privately between themselves ?

You say that the resolutioners outfoxed them all, the media, the SFA, Celtic

It’s an outrage that the resolutioners, who are trying to imorove governance in the sport, should have to outfox the plc board as you put it.

We have been told on here for years that the club was working with the res 12 guys. It now seems not and that in fact the plc were on the other side.

Or have I got this wrong?
