If you’ve been here for a while you’ll have noticed I don’t pay much attention to preseason friendlies but tomorrow’s game against Wolfsburg takes on a more serious tone after Tuesday’s reversal – Celtic desperately need to find sharpness.
Despite the well-placed confidence that we’ll cope comfortably at Celtic Park on Wednesday against Lincoln Red Imps, the serious challenges will come thick and fast thereafter.
Players need to find their edge and the manager needs to learn who goes where and works with whom. It’s just about possible for us to get things together, but whoever we pull out of the hat in today’s provisional third qualifying round draw will be delighted to catch a team in apparent flux.
All this brings us back to Wolfsburg’ a much needed test.

Most contracts, whether full or part time, include a “needs of the business” clause, and those who are salaried often require to put in the additional hours without additional compensation. Fluctuating hours of work comes with the rations in many (perhaps most) jobs, and the methods of managing that evolve over time.
This isn’t a new thing, and there are myriad methods of ensuring the needs of the business and the needs of the staff are (largely) in sync. Minimum hours being just one, for example. It simply comes down to the attitude of the employer.

At least by doing what you did and being transparent it shows the Celtic fans where Lawwell and co stand. This in isolation could be “excused” but there are too many other touch points where the behaviour of Lawwell deserves deep scrutiny. The Celtic Board is weak — with Bankier as Chairman reflecting that reality. It’s Dermot and Lawwell who have their own interests which are not always aligned in my view.
Understandably many Celtic fans don’t trust any criticism of the club and the natural reaction is to shoot the messenger. That’s ok —however the more datapoints that become visible they will realise they are being essentially played with. From downsizing, 5 way agreement , zero hour contracts, appointing Ronny, RES12, banning innocent fans after Fir Park, Poppies on the Hoops to aiding and abetting the criminalisation of young Celtic fans —-there is a lot.
After the semi final loss Dermot reacted to bring in Brendan. However the man who has run the show from top to bottom for the last 10 years and been the key player in all of the above sits and chuckles about how easy it has been.
CL failure to qualify this season will mean Lawwell has cost the club £90M of revenue. Dermot may not care about any of the above—-£90M should see him take swift action and chase The Bonus Thief down London Road.

Sorry bud, but Celtic have no divine right to qualify for the CL every year.
He’s the Chief Executive and is responsible for commercial deals. You can attack him on that record if you like.
But the manager has a budget (usually bigger than the teams who eliminate us), he has scouts at his disposal and has the complete authority on how the budget is spent.
Like I said, the clubs main failure has been appointing rubbish coaches and that responsibility ultimately stands with DD.

Changing the subject (hopefully) I was in a discussion with a rangers supporter in work. He didn’t like it cause I called him a hun. Usual banter back and forth and I said that not all rangers or even players were huns, most were but not all. Laudrup I wouldn’t class as a hun but novo definitely is, even more so this week. I didn’t know enough about their current team to answer so they are all huns for now, that was a point up to me btw..
Names were bandied back and forth on who or not was a hun and I said wee Barry was a hun but his brother Derek wasn’t. Another Celtic supporter said Derek was, the rangers supporter said barry was a good rangers man but Derek had “changed”
Anyway, this went on for a wee while but my question is, who has played for rangers that you wouldn’t class as a hun ? Any answers appreciated…

I’m always hopeful on anything Celtic, I’m not looking to far ahead as regards Europe, domesticly im looking for a treble, I got 7/1 for that and put a right few quid on it (spending money for Vegas next year) obviously BR and the new staff are going to need a bedding in period and you have to give them time, Europa cup is about our stretch this season, anything else in Europe would be a plus IMO.
