Sunday’s defeat to Celtic was by no means Hibernian’s worst result of the season. The previous week they lost 3-0 at St Mirren. Earlier in the League Cup, they won against Peterhead, Queen’s Park and Elgin, but lost on a trip over The Bridge to Kelty Hearts, a sore one on more than one level.
Celtic’s visits to Easter Road have seldom been so straightforward, so confidence is high ahead of Sunday’s repeat encounter. Brendan Rodgers will be wary of how he tripped up at the corresponding round of the League Cup a year ago. That tournament is the only occasion he has not won a domestic competition over his two periods as Celtic manager, but he is likely to make his selections with an eye on the weeks ahead.
Kyogo’s delicate shoulder, and Adam Idah’s limited action since his virtuoso performance at Hampden in May, gives the manager a dilemma. Who to play up front? Rocco Vata will be unaware of what he passed up when leaving Celtic, until later in life. The third striker role remains open, for now.
Hampden has the largest car park I have seen in front of a football stadium. Ibrox, on the other hand, has no car park at the front of the stadium, disgruntled fans cannot loiter on Edmiston Drive.
Despite Hampden’s neutral acre out front, you wonder if even this car park will be big enough to host the Great Disgruntled, should St Johnstone win tomorrow.

FRIDAY.
That is all.
Oh yea, Hoopy birthday to the original hole goalie.
HH!
Share them out aisle.
f sake
What Larks
Good afternoon all from the Queens Park Cafe.
Braw.
Aipple jeeaz all sorts coming up. DIA zen can play centre forward and goals coming from everywhere. No real centre forward is going to want to be a bench warmer. Mor replacement is next then a big centre half who doesn’t like the treatment table. Someone to give wee Greg a break. Mon the saints.
When does KT jet in?
Happy hooooooopy birthday to the original Holy goalie and Lisbon Lion, John Fallon .
Kyogo not in training. Now we know why the Idah deal was completed so quickly after Sunday. Back to 1 fit striker we go. 2 weeks till the window shuts and the squad hasn’t been strengthened from last season. Excellent forward planning, said no one….
Happy Birthday to Old Man Fallon, the original Holy Goalie…and Unrepentant Fenian
I am expecting either a young unknown (Bayo) or an end of career name (Dublin) – possibly on loan?
Even as a third striker, there is a good prospect of game time – just not as a starter.
Rocco Vata, or his agent, or both have passed up on a genuine opportunity to make a mark at Celtic FC. In doing so he is following in the footsteps, if you like, of Ben Doak who jumped ship just at the point Celtic were in the winger business. The former had few chances to impress to be fair, but he was offered the opportunity by Brendan to be one of three central forwards, one he turned down. Danny Kelly was also given gametime, and also offered a new contract which he also turned down and now looks likely to be joining his namesake and disgraced broadcaster down at the New Den. Bosun Lawell is probably the exception here, and at least earned us a substantial transfer fee and a future down In Stoke. If Kyogo is genuinely injured, again, and Adam likely to be on the bench step forward once more the prodigal son Mikey Johnson to seize the moment score the goals that take us into the next round of the League Cup. No?

Mo (the bounce) Bangura
NEW boy Mohamed Bangura was unveiled by Celtic yesterday… then revealed he is setting his sights on using the Hoops as a stepping stone to one of Europe’s top leagues.
The Sierra Leone star was paraded in his new club colours and spoke honestly about his hopes for the future as he targeted his next career move following his £2.2million switch from AIK Stockholm.
Bangura has penned a four-year contract but reckons he could be away within a year as he looks to fulfil his dream of playing in England, Spain or Italy.
Celtic, who found out yesterday that Sion’s appeal in the Europa wrangle will be heard on Tuesday, could give the African his debut today in their crucial home SPL match against Motherwell along with fellow new boy Badr El Kaddouri.
Bangura, who arrives after being recommended by Hoops legend Henrik Larsson, said: “Coming to Celtic is a good move for me but I want to reach the top.
“That’s what I’m working towards and this is a step forward for me.
“If I can do my best with Celtic then I will see what the future holds. If possible, I could make the next step in one year – if everything goes well and the club is willing, then why not?
“To come to Celtic gives me a good feeling because it’s another stage in my career.
“I have to work to do my very best to go to the top. I’m talking about the Spanish league, the English league or maybe the Italian league.”
MJ is out after last week’s assault by Hibs goalie.
Start Daizen up the middle, give Adam 30 minutes.

Glad to hear the knee replacement went well and you seem to be doing all the right things, so keep it up. Keep rigidly to the physio, rest, exercise rest, that will do for you.
My wife had a half knee done 8 years ago andreally was not a great success, but now she has an appointment for a complete new knee early september.
It’s a long road, but well worth the sacrifice for sure.
They say lots of sex is a help, not so sure if my lady wife would agree !!
Best to you

ST MIRREN V CELTIC
WILLIAM HILL PREMIERSHIP | THE SMISA STADIUM | SUN, AUG 25 | KO 12PM
TICKET INFORMATION
We have received 1,389 tickets for this match.
Tickets for this match are now on sale to Season Ticket Holders who were successful in the ballot of those supporters who attended 13 or more matches in Season 2023/24.
What about Celtic B striker Joey Dawson? He is now 21 and first played for First team in December 2021.
He should be ready by now, if not why is he still here. He came from Scunthorpe where he had played for their first team back in 2019. I have read that he was injured but is now fit. Joeys Dad and two of his Uncles were professional players. His uncle Michael was a very successful Premier League player and has 4 England caps.
There is also an Academy Under 18 team with man-big players surely they have at least one striker.
We do need a third striker for the first team and a young Scottish lad would be preferrable.
What is the point of B team and academy?
Statement from Celtic, think something in the second paragraph may surprise their support 🤔
“Across a number of months, Celtic has completed all necessary works with regard to accommodating away supporters for derby matches.
Without a guarantee that our supporters could attend Ibrox in January, however, unfortunately we were not in a position to allocate tickets to away supporters at Celtic Park for the forthcoming match in September.
We will continue to engage with all parties to seek a satisfactory solution.”

Could I respectfully suggest that the issue you found with that leader on another site would be best dealt with by directly addressing it on that site.
Bringing it over here to express disapproval just leads to further beef between sites and Paul 67 tends to get the worst of those exchanges. The site concerned has done a lot to discourage the same type of action occurring on their site as they had problems with it in the early days. It hasn’t disappeared entirely but it is a rarity now.
The same should apply to James Forrest’s site- he can be countered here when he makes a point on his rare visits but bringing over stuff from his blog to criticise it on here is not the best way to deal with it.
Counter points can be made on both James’ site and the site you addressed this morning. Both allow free comment so long as you are not overly personal in dishing out abuse. That is not true of all Celtic sites- I was barred from one such site- I won’t name it- for making a point in opposition to his leader argument- there was absolutely no personal abuse involved but I got some back from the host- the same host who regularly has some pretty right wing views expressed by a regular poster in his comments section. It’s a pity because the site concerned does some good work and research but the host has a particularly thin skin and does not react well to having his positions attacked. His site- his rules- no room for alternative views- so be it.
