Sunday’s defeat to Celtic was by no means Hibernian’s worst result of the season. The previous week they lost 3-0 at St Mirren. Earlier in the League Cup, they won against Peterhead, Queen’s Park and Elgin, but lost on a trip over The Bridge to Kelty Hearts, a sore one on more than one level.
Celtic’s visits to Easter Road have seldom been so straightforward, so confidence is high ahead of Sunday’s repeat encounter. Brendan Rodgers will be wary of how he tripped up at the corresponding round of the League Cup a year ago. That tournament is the only occasion he has not won a domestic competition over his two periods as Celtic manager, but he is likely to make his selections with an eye on the weeks ahead.
Kyogo’s delicate shoulder, and Adam Idah’s limited action since his virtuoso performance at Hampden in May, gives the manager a dilemma. Who to play up front? Rocco Vata will be unaware of what he passed up when leaving Celtic, until later in life. The third striker role remains open, for now.
Hampden has the largest car park I have seen in front of a football stadium. Ibrox, on the other hand, has no car park at the front of the stadium, disgruntled fans cannot loiter on Edmiston Drive.
Despite Hampden’s neutral acre out front, you wonder if even this car park will be big enough to host the Great Disgruntled, should St Johnstone win tomorrow.

Fuming Venezia general director Filippo Antonelli has bombed wantaway star Tanner Tessmann out of the first-team picture amid transfer links with Celtic.
The 22-year-old was a standout for the club last season in Serie B – and has twice appeared to be on the brink of a big-money move away from the club before the start of their top flight campaign. The 22-year-old was on the verge of a move to Inter before the Serie A champions pulled out of talks after failing to reach an agreement with the American’s representatives on a contract. It appears to be a similar story with Fiorentina – with reports in Italy suggesting a £5m package is set to collapse over fees that would be owed to agents over the deal.

Just read your wee pen pic of Bobby Murdoch.
Didn’t realise til I saw the “”last goal” bit that I realised that when I was getting excited about Bobby scoring Celtic’s 6000th goal it was also the last goal he would score for Celtic.
Very fitting I think.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
No doubt this reply will be lost in the new article at 12:00, but I think Bobby was as good as any Celt ever.
My favourite picture of Bobby.

Wee fiver on St. Johnstone to win at 11/1 today. £60 if it comes in.
Have also stuck a fiver on a penalty awarded in the game at 11/10, which will mean I at least break even (£10.50 back) if the officials help their favourite team, which is exactly what I expect them to do.
Also stuck a £10 double on Dundee -1 and Aberdeen -2, which will bag me £60 is it comes in. 😃👍⚽️

Re. our Bobby
A few years ago I was talking to a former Motherwell player who had played full back against Celtic in the late 60s and was taken aback initially when he said he ‘hated’ Bobby Murdoch. I expressed my surprise at this statement, but he then smiled and said “… in the nicest possible way”. He then went on to explain himself.
Basically he was saying that playing against Booby was murder because he just kept whacking/chipping/stroking the ball over his head, inside him, outside him, all for Wee Jinky or Stevie or Lemon to run on to in the space behind him. If he held back the ball was played in front of him and the players then overloaded the position and he was gubbed. If he marked tight the ball would whiz past him and he ended up chasing back, again and again, towards his own goal. Half time brought respite, but the sheer anguish of knowing that the same thing was going to happen again in the second half, at a time when there were no substitutions, meant he could not really enjoy the break.
His main take on Bobby was the skill he had in playing the ball really early, without looking, into the exact place or places he wanted it to go, at exactly the pace he wanted it to go and no amount of physical tackling seemed to put Bobby off his game.
His conclusion was that, though he still had ‘nightmares’ about what he suffered in those games, he had some pride and satisfaction that he had shared a football park at the same time as a genuine world class player.
And he still ‘hated him (in the nicest possible way).

Brendan’s presser yesterday, in case anyone missed it,a proper leader,we need to look after him and back him,he spoke about a lot of topics, that have been doing the rounds on here recently.
could anyone actually remember the last 3 winners of the europa cup ?
Premier Sports is free on Virgin TV this month
Great images of Bobby Murdoch.
Taken too soon, today would have been just his 80th birthday.
He was my late father’s favourite footballer.

I guess the terminology ” Constructive Criticism “can be down to interpretarion.
We provide feedback with specific actionable suggestions . If anyone connected with the club wants general advice then we can give that too.
For Europe i suggest we prioritise each game, I dont believe we have always done that.
We play to our strengths and not be overawed by the opposition. Respect teams but not too much.
Bring the thunder back, play quick attacking football at Parkhead for the full 90+ minutesand. Recent history has shown we dont do parking the bus well.
We may not be able to pay mega fees but we can optimise fitness and technique.
Finally, price the games realistically. This is crucial, it gets fans onside immediately and guarantees full house notices go up quickly which gives a feel good factor.
Do you not think players, managers and coaches et al do not do blogs or social media ?
Of course tjey do, sometimes too much.
Cheers and HH.
For me the Seville season was about the journey.
From an inauspicious start …
.. elimination from the Champions League by Basle which triggered a real sense of depression after the exploits the previous season culminating in the Juve game
… then a no contest against Sudova which made Europa feel every inch a slow lane tournament
… followed by the absolutely disgraceful analysis and reaction to a 1-0 victory over Blackburn
… Ewood Park got the journey moving.
Thank you Graeme Stupid for your irretrievably Souness comments.
You can take a small place in Celtic’s history.

Wow, deary me.
You would not want to get to another Euro final in case we get beaten.
Surely i have misinterpreted that.
HH.
Big bad John’s goal at Anfield.
If Carlsberg did football memories.
If we win the league this year and fail to win the CL qualifiers, we still drop into Europa, yes?
We should be strengthening now, for those games next year (as well as this year).
The Seville season was no pinnacle for me.
In the cold light of day we got to a European final and lost.
Already out both cups the shattered team returned home to be cheated out of the league.
Those 5 days on reflection are as sorely felt as the raith rovers defeat.
I have no consolation that we made a great spectacle.
We lost it all
I would not want a repeat of that ever.
Getting to any European final is an amazing achievement. Ok it’s murder if you lose, but still great to have gotten there. I don’t think we remotely laud the achievements of our 1970 team enough. They probably had a harder route to get there than 1967.

I guess the terminology ” Constructive Criticism “can be down to interpretarion.
I guess it has its ambiguities but it also has a dictionary definition. There was no construction in your phrase.
We provide feedback with specific actionable suggestions . If anyone connected with the club wants general advice then we can give that too.
Occasionally, there are specific actionable suggestions, mostly there are not. I think people connected with the club have trusted professionals and past professionals whose advice has proved valuable to them and they seek them out. They do not read blogs to find nuggets of advice. They will find nuggets though😀
For Europe i suggest we prioritise each game, I don’t believe we have always done that.
I am a wee bit unsure of what that would mean but I doubt it is something that is not done already. I doubt any manager has ever said “I want you to try hard against the pot2 and 3 teams but there’s no point in competing against Madrid/Man City/PSG cos you’re gonna get beat there!” I can’t think of any Euro match where we deliberately weakened a team except, perhaps, in a dead rubber 6th CL or Europa Group match where nothing was at stake except the win money, even then we’ve never fielded 11 reserves.
If you mean prioritise Europe over domestic competition, I have some queries. Since CL qualification is dependant on or greatly helped by winning your league, there are risks attached to weakening your team for domestic fixtures during the September to December period when CL Group matches take place. If you don’t win the league you have a much more difficult qualification route to getting to CL Group at all and we have regularly failed in that quest, even when it is our highest or 2nd highest priority. We even failed to do it in our UEFA run in 2003. Now we have taken decisions to rest important players who are carrying worrying injuries in order to have a better chance of being ready for the next Euro match. That is accepted by coach and crowd if they’re rested for a fixture against Livi, Ross or St. Johnstone.
No, the only sense I can make of this is playing guys like Jarosik or Ntcham in Euro matches where they gave effort and guile but we didn’t over use them in domestic matches where they were lazy basses.
We play to our strengths and not be overawed by the opposition. Respect teams but not too much.
Bring the thunder back, play quick attacking football at Parkhead for the full 90+ minutesand. Recent history has shown we dont do parking the bus well.
How do you even convey that? It sounds like an Actor’s version of a motivational speech where the actor/footballers sit around nodding and getting more resolute, as if they wouldn’t have been bothered to play well if the boss never said those words. The first reaction of any footballer would be to ask what IS too little respect or too much? What exactly is the right amount or mindset? (Me- I’d expect a pro footballer to have that ability to do this task themselves).
Now, it might be done constructively if the coach says – “Marking Vinicius Jnr. too tight is not showing him enough respect for his trickery and skill, Staying 2 yards off him is showing too much respect- it’s fearful, one yard off is about right but not if he’s in shooting distance near the goal then you need to show him no respect”
We may not be able to pay mega fees but we can optimise fitness and technique.
We look for every gain possible and we had a young enough and fit enough squad to play Angeball so I think we’ve got fitness covered. It can give you an extra edge but the big teams in Europe are not short of fitness either and their money gets them a better class of Vinicius and Valverde than we can match.
Finally, price the games realistically. This is crucial, it gets fans onside immediately and guarantees full house notices go up quickly which gives a feel good factor.
The fans are always up for the Euro experience. I’ve never been able to fault our backing at European level and, if we lowered our prices, when we already have SB holders, with priority access to tickets, and sold out crowds, it’s hard to see what benefits this has either in raising money for transfers or in widening access for youngsters to get the experiences we had. Perhaps a Kano initiative of having those seats given to local kids for free on a balloted basis could help, without reducing our income.
Do you not think players, managers and coaches et al do not do blogs or social media ?
Of course tjey do, sometimes too much.
I’m sure they do- fans expect them to provide access to themselves on social media but……..they also get training on advice on this and they don’t linger on fan sites expecting to get affirmation, ego boosts or helpful advice on how to improve their game. Any player who does visit fan sites for the above purposes is a waste of time and a loser.

You accuse BURNLEY78 of worrying too much about what R2ngers do.
Yet I’ll wager if they hadn’t got to two UEFA Cup/Europa League finals, you wouldn’t be wishing Celtic were dropping into the European 2nd & 3rd tier competitions. You are the one using R2ngers as the benchmark.
