VALENCIA ‘BAD BOY’ IN UEFA CHARGE

EUROPEAN’S football bosses have charged Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia with intentionally getting a yellow card in the Spaniards’ 2-0 Europa League win over Celtic on Thursday.

UEFA announced their finding yesterday, only 24 hours after opening an investigation into Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos for a suspected similar offence.

Players who provoke a booking to serve a one-game ban at a favourable time can be suspended for an additional match.

The Mestalla outfit led 2-0 late in the Parkhead tie when Kondogbia received a yellow card for time-wasting at a free-kick.

The former France international’s third caution of the competition triggered a ban for the return match in Spain on Thursday with the home side expected to cement their place in the last-16.

That would clear Kondogbia’s disciplinary record for the next stage.

UEFA will make an announcement next week.
