VALENCIA BOSS’ CELTIC FEARS

VALENCIA Head Coach Marcelino fears his side are tired as they head to Parkhead for a “difficult” Europa League first leg confrontation on Thursday night.

Celtic’s opponents looked weary as they were held to a disappointing goalless draw by Real Sociedad in the Mestalla at the weekend.

\And boss Marcelino admitted their run of matches, which included a Copa del Rey semi-final at Real Betis on Thursday, had taken their toll on his players as he prepares his team for the trip to Glasgow.

He said: “When you play a game less than 72 hours after your last one, then it is very obvious you are going to be tired.

“We now only have another three days before we have to play Celtic and that will be another exhausting game for the players.

“I would have preferred to give some of my players a rest for the game in Scotland, but that is not possible.

“We now we face a very difficult match in Glasgow and we need our best players for it.”

Valencia had been in fine scoring form recently with 10 goals in their previous four games, but they fired blanks against Sociedad.

Brendan Rodgers had spies in the stand to get an update on the Spaniards’ form and the pick of the bunch on this performance was captain Daniel Parejo who impressed with his composure in midfield.

Scott Brown and Co will have their work cut out on Thursday night under the lights in the east end of Glasgow.
