Celtic didn’t hit the heights of last week’s win at Tynecastle against Inverness last night but it was a remarkably controlled win nonetheless. The game could have been over as a contest in the opening minutes but as the lead didn’t extend beyond a single goal the contest retained an edge.
Daniel Majstorovic was incorrectly penalised when he correctly challenged for the ball 25 yards from goal but the Swede’s lax initial response to the forward ball created the situation that resulted in his red card. Dan had a painful game against Inverness last season but after they were reduced to 10 men Celtic were far too composed to let Inverness’ numerical advantage count.
We’ve spoken about the value of goals from midfield in recent seasons. Kris Commons lit up Celtic’s season when he arrived in a flurry of goals last year but Joe Ledley’s efforts from the back post this season could prove to be even more important.

Just as well I’m in the Lakes having a nice wee relaxing jaunt with the missus and not partaking in this Celtic/hun nonsense!

Barcabhoy,
I find it almost impossible to believe that the Celtic board would endorse newco.
(Easy Jambo posted some figures earlier on RTC that showed income to clubs minus Rangers in the league – can’t find it now and those figures would really help)
I won’t ask the MSM but has anyone called Sky (BBC, ESPN, Fox, Apple, Google etc) to ask how much they would pay for the SPL minus Rangers?
==============
I posted a couple of weeks ago about an alternative scenario….Rangers trying to make their way up from the bottom of Div 3 to the SPL, has the potential for good television. Rangers naturally could demand the lions share of this new contract for the SFL, however it would significantly enhance the struggle most SFL clubs have to survive
The SPL contract is a different matter altogether. It would be a very ballsy move by Sky to try and negotiate this contract significantly downwards. They run the risk of opening the door to ESPN.
ESPN could negotiate a 6 year deal, which would effectively see them with 3 years of a Rangers involved in the SPl. The first season of Rangers return is likely to be compelling viewing. Would Sky risk being shut out for 6 years, with no OF games at all ? I think the SPL have a better position than they like to portray.
Celtic could also adopt a similar strategy for season book sales. The club could freeze prices for the next 3 years, and then guarantee a modest increase for those who have held books for 3 continuous years starting next season. New season book holders would pay a much higher price if they duck out now and want to come back in when Rangers get back in 2015
Rewarding those who stick with you could be a profitable strategy for both Celtic and ESPN (or Sky if they see sense)
Remember ESPN are a much much bigger company than Sky. They have the resource to invest, and to take away what is a good and low cost schedule filler for Sky

Can you not concentrate on the stirring view rather than stirring it on here? :-)
There is no way our Board will ‘support’ any Newco……

Superbpost mi amigo.
3 folk have said they have seen the evidence of side letters.
If side letters exist then rangers have lost the tax case. The question is how much

CRC – you never ever back yourself into a corner.
Anyone who comes on here advocating that Celtic offer to resign from the SPL without a guaranteed move to another/better league could justifiably be considered a lurking Hun….or Jack Irvine!

Goodness me you make one innocent post and the vultures swoop :-)
Reminds me of the guy in Bawrrowfield who’s house was raided by the polis.
When they entered the bathroom and looked in the bath he replied, “Ive never seen that sheep before officer!”

No excuses she knows by now :-)
Mullet and Co
It really doesn’t matter by how much, if they are found guilty of cheating the tax man that is end game.
All that has gone before is tainted, end of.
It’s like saying I’m sorry, I only murdered him a bit.
No to Newco
good night all in Celtic land :)
Goodnight and Good-luck to you all.

While I understand where you are coming from, and I know many others share your view.
Would you be happy to carry on as if nothing has happened, and the hun are allowed to do as they do ?
I and many others, would rather walk away from a corrupt game that involves a team who for more than 100 years, have done everything in their power to destroy our club, and our culture.
If you want to be part of that after all we have gone through, fiar play to you.
I would rather we had no club than be part of that.
Count me out.

Ha ha visited Grasmere today where Wordsworth is buried.
In 1997 we stopped here before flying out to the Caribbean on honeymoon. I discovered that his wifes name was Fanny, despite having visited the area many times.
70% of my honeymoon photos were of Willie and Fanny’s grave. It may explain why a polo mint lasted longer than the marriage!!
No to newco!
I don’t think Celtic should threaten to resign to stop a newco hun.
I do believe we should resign if/when newco hun is admitted.
The game would be pointless anyway.
TET – read my post at 23:32 before you start commiting ritual suicide!

YES TO CELTIC!
Time for bed, things to do, have a VW transporter to get going, need to bleed the fuel system as someone is coming to buy it, I hope, a project the young fella got fed up with after a week or so, it’s annoying the Mrs, and has to go.
Going cheap, just like a club I know of :>)
Take care and god bless

to explain his allegation regarding huns having 2 contracts, king then clears things up by saying he never said this was the case at all and he didn’t know if it was true, have a listen

I read your post, and your next post.
Suicide has nothing to do with it, vote them back in is suicide.
Even if the club vote against and they get back in it’s tantamount to suicide, the majority of the support will walk.
I wasn’t having a dig, far from it.
The club can stop this, all it would take is a threat of resignation, others have said that if it were a choice between us and them, then the powers would swing their way, well they would be swinging the way of a nothing club with no spending power.
Celtic are the spending power in scotland now, we have all the cards in our hand, if they are dealt correctly we can change the face of football for the better in scotland, or we can walk.
All I and every other Celtic supporter wants is a level playing field, we don’t want special treatment like the hun have had since the year dot.
I would rather have no club, than be beholding to them any longer, we are better that that, we are better than them, we are Celtic.
Somos el Celtic
By all means, let us inform the Board of our views on Newco, but consider this. Assertions that large portions of the Celtic support will walk or empty threats that the Club will resign from the SPL wil only offer encouragement to the pro-Newco media.

The thing that has been bothering me is: if a player was offered two contracts, surely the agent must have known?
How does this implicate the agents involved?
We vote NO highlighting sporting integrity.
If they are then admitted, we walk.
Why continue in a rigged game?
CroppyBhoy……hit the Nail on the Head there, me Bhoyo…..!!!…..That’s the bottom line, and they know it……they will ALL reap what they (knowingly) sow….!!!
They thought they were following their dream, but it has turned out to be their self-inflicted nightmare……..and all in the name of desired (delusional) supremacy….NOT in the name of SPORT…..(some take drugs, and some CHEAT…..)
It’s about time we started ‘hitting’ the MSM with the aspect you have so very eloquently highlighted tonight……lest it be ‘lost in the mist’ of all the protectionist covering up of what really happened here….!!!!! ….and we need our Board’s support on this aspect.
