VAN DIJK EYES ENGLAND

VIRGIL VAN DIJK has revealed he is keen on a move to the English top flight.

Arsenal and Southampton are two clubs reported to be among the frontrunners for Celtic’s classy Dutch centre-half and a bidding war could result in Celtic receiving a bids up to £12 million.

The Saints have already raided the Hoops twice in recent seasons, paying a total of £20million to take goalkeeper Fraser Forster and midfielder Victor Wanyama to St.Marys’ and both have been hugely successful with Forster currently having the highest number of league shut-outs in the English top division.

Van Dijk, 23, said: “There are plenty of clubs interested, but Celtic are not interested in selling because we are active on four fronts.

“I understand their attitude and see it as a compliment.

“But we have to be realistic.

“If there is a nice club from England coming in we must sit down there.

“I would also develop as a player.”

Celtic paid Dutch outfit Groningen £2.6million for the defender 18 months ago.
