FORMER Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths is on the move again.
The 34-year-old frontman had a spell at Falkirk after his Hoops contract was scrapped in January 2022.
Griffiths, who scored 123 goals for the champions, departed for Australia in August that year and has spent the last three seasons playing for semi-professional Mandurah City in Western Australia.
The one-time Scotland international forward has now signed for Perth-based Stirling Macedonia Lions of the National Premier Leagues Western Australia.
HOW ABOUT THAT…Leigh Griffiths rests on the corner flag after scoring Celtic’s second goal in the 5-1 win at Ibrox in April 2017.
The ex-fans’ favourite was on the substutes’ bench in his new team’s 2-2 away draw against Perth Soccer Club.
A statement from Stirling read: “We’re delighted to officially welcome Leigh Griffiths to Stirling Macedonia!
“A former Celtic FC player and Scotland international, Leigh arrives with a proven attacking pedigree and years of top-level experience. He adds genuine firepower to our front third and brings invaluable leadership to the squad.
“Welcome to the Stirling family, Leigh!”
The club’s operations manager, Keegan Ashley, added: “What a pleasure it is to have someone of Leigh’s experience join us at Stirling Macedonia.
“He brings genuine quality in the attacking third and will have a big impact not only on the pitch but off it as well—helping guide and mentor our younger players as they develop their game.”
