Victor’s £1m a light amid utter insanity

1847

You want some good news? Around £1m of Tottenham’s money for Victor Wanyama will find its way to Celtic, which will offset some of the economic impact of this morning’s news. This aside, there is only bad news. If we want to buy footballers priced in euros (or anything other than GPB) they will cost more money. We will also have to pay higher wages to be competitive with European clubs.

Goods will cost more – it will start today with fuel and travel, then food, electrical goods and everything else. Wages will buy less (not just less-able footballers). Borrowing repayments will be higher. Business expenditure, wages and employment will drop, so will the tax take – and money available for welfare spend.  The poor always pay the highest penalty.

If you are rich enough and without a mortgage you can indulge in flag waving all day, happy in a delusion that self-determination even remotely exists in modern economies. Or that more self-determination over here, and a little less over there, is a panacea. It’s not, it’s just another economic crisis coming your way soon.

The entire political class have failed us. Calling a flag waving referendum was a grubby attempt to hold onto power by the prime minister; this mess is his making. Whoever succeeds him will have to successfully pander to the same party membership in order to get elected.

Jeremy Corbyn’s mealie-mouthed campaigning was an embarrassment. His “7 out of 10” backing for remain did what it was supposed to do: convince people he was going through the motions for something he didn’t believe in.

Who’s ever heard of a leader winning support for an issue he is prepared to back 7 out of 10 himself? He should go, but political ego will ensure he’ll hang around to make sure Johnson wins the next general election.

It took six days for the Greek government to abandon their own disastrous EU referendum mandate. Instead of attempting a rescue, all our political ‘leaders’ will give us is more populist power grabs. It’s already underway.

Did someone forget to tell the Brexit voters that the UK recession deficit is still north of £1.5 Trillion and being secured within the EU ……oh, dear ….hahahaha….

Make no mistake, those who voted to leave did so on immigration grounds, with no consideration, or understanding of the economic / financial implications ……selfish Brits, as usual ….!!!!

    ……………………………………………….

Without a doubt IMO, the brits here were out to a man, paid little heed to anything other than coloured people entering britland, when I pointed out they were imigrants themselfs, they actually saw it as they were white, so they were superior and could do what the ef they wanted, in a nutshell that was their reasoning, warped for sure.

  8. A couple of things made me chuckle today, on a fairly black day for the poorest in our country. The Five Live Sports desk telling us that Sevco had signed a Scottish international ‘keeper , indeed! Also the lumpen half wits celebrating in Asda car park today in Bury, delighted about the Brexit but clueless as to what it would do to their weekly shop..

Anyway, good to young Kieran signed up, never in doubt in my opinion and hopefully he is the first of two or three bits of signing news in the next fortnight.

Those who have residence will be fine, unless Spain decide to move the goalposts, and it has been known.

Those without are quite rightly crapping themselfs, they never saw this coming, and it’s the uncertainty that what worries them, most of the older ones don’t really have a scooby.

We have residence and are not dependent on britland, the Mrs gets her pension from britland, which as I understand is ok, it’s not pensions that are the problem it’s benefits, many brits are on disability and related benefits, that will be the first thing to go for many who are scamming the system, they are not happy today, I saw one earlier at the post office, I think she realised her days were numbered.

The irony is that we’ll probably have a lot of young, fit, healthy people who are working and contributing to the exchequer leaving to work elsewhere in the EU and being replaced by a lot of elderly, unhealthy and welfare dependent former expats, all looking for housing and health care.

I quite like Benidorm, tho never having been there I can only surmise of it’s reality, but if the Costa del Sol is anything to go by, they have it spot on, tis not a place that does anything for mi, give me the mountains and solitude any day.

You do wonder tho that they never saw this coming, I reckon that a scare the euros was the goal and get a better deal, they have opened the box and by feck they are going to have some job controling the consequenses.

an appalling, appalling night for us all. the worst political decision since chamberlain at munich. the implications are terrifying for everyone with a job, mortgage, family…

    just awful.

our world is now “changed, changed utterly”, who knows where it will end? there’s no easy path into the EU for Scotland (we’d flunk economic convergence criteria at the moment by a long way), but the prospect of staying tied to the UK look bleak.

17 million people voted for farage… let that sink in for a moment. truly we are surrounded by idiots.

the only hope is a deal – “associate membership” which leaves us semi-detached but fundamentally still in the EU.

implications for celtic are also profound. though i suspect the eps clubs are in for an even bigger shock very soon…

  29. Celtic Park has caught the Measles, it’s not serious but dots have appeared in most sections. As I say it is a mild attack and most sections have just 1,2 or 3 dots. The total of these Misc dots amount to 77. Section 445 is one of the two sicker sections with 83 dots and poor Section 416 is the real sick one with 129. Making a grand Total of 289 dots.

The unfortunate thing is that with the stoke of a pen the British have voted to become second class ‘citizens’ in Europe. If they want to keep any of the benefits of Europe that will cost a fortune, without any influence whatsoever.

The Irish Parliament has been re-called on Monday to discuss this crisis.

Nobody seems to know what the status will be of Irish people, living/working in the UK or vice-versa.

Ireland doesn’t think it can make bilateral agreements with the UK, in the areas already agreed in the Treaties.

In the 6 counties many seem intent in holding onto EU Membership.

An unprecedented situation. What a legacy Mr Cameron.
