Victory is there for Celtic

239

Spartak Moscow will have considered Celtic’s history away from home in the Champions League and this afternoon will look each other in the eye and warn against complacency.  There is nothing in 20 games in this competition proper to alarm them, but there is nothing in that 11 year history which will prepare them to meet this Celtic team.

Not since Martin O’Neill took his side to Turin in 2001 have we approached a Champions League away match with such enthusiasm.  Celtic will approach this game knowing they have nothing to lose and everything to gain from imposing the team and personal development achieved over the last 18 months on Spartak.

The game also comes at a convenient window in our permanent injury crisis but with Spartak robbed of key players throughout the team.

At home against Benfica two weeks ago concentration was the important sentiment but tonight is a different game.  The foreign environs will ensure Celtic players are always acutely of their surroundings but they also provide a platform, and a playing surface, for them to express themselves.

Although Celtic’s away record in this tournament has been poor the better performances have come against the bigger challenges: a draw in the Camp Nou, 0-0 after 90 minutes before losing in extra time in the San Siro, and it took ridiculous penalty decisions at the Stadio Dello Alpi and Old Trafford to deny us a point, so don’t be confused by the stats.

This one is there for us.

It would appear the scope of the present investigation was specifically chosen to avoid threatening one of the major tenets of their superiority myth.

There is certainly enough evidence in the public domain to justify a look at their behaviour during the 90’s.

Not trying to be smart-been trying to figure out the time for this track for nearly a decade!

It’s the drums which throw it,they seem to be on 6/8,while the rest of the track is on a simple 4/4.

    Suggestions?

    Bom dia,

Apologies if this has been discussed to death before, but can somebody edu-ma-kate me about the in’s and out’s of this Naka image rights farrago the foe malign are burbling on about………

    ————————————————————-

Unlike the mountains of evidence we have read on here and other sites on their abuse of EBT’s, I don’t think there is a shred of viable evidence that anyone, including them, has somehow gained unfair advantage by manipulating image rights payments.

  7. The Fergie thing, Just think his reaction was OTT. Why not just say this is not the time or place and move on to next question, instead of the bright red face and going off his nut routine.

Image rights have been used and abused for about 20 years,by clubs, players and agents.

The money gained from them is paid into the player’s own company, rather than as salary.

It is taxed accordingly. With full knowledge and agreement of HMRC.

It is not regarded as a footballing contract as it refers to off-the-field activities.

Jabba is grasping at straws, and he’s too fat for a straw to do him any good………

He is a lifelong follower and all round good guy, reckons that it is a great opportunity for Celtic tonight, they have lots of injuries and thinks they will be overly attacking.

I wish Neil Lennon would deflect stupid questions about the huns or anyone else when he is doing a CELTIC pre match interview.

    It makes sense tae me.

  11. Good luck to neil and the bhoys tonight.

After the good results in rennes and udinese lenny has shown his team can be comfortable away from home in europe and get a result.

The song sounds as if its a straight 4/4 and the drummer.is just playing triplets to each of the 4 beats in the bar?

If a song has 4 beats in a bar the rhythm section wouldnt play two different time signatures it would make no sense for the drummer who is keeping the time for everybody to play 6 beats in every bar even if its 8th notes,it could be seen as 3/4 time but is still a fundamentally different time signature to 4 crotchets in a bar.

    I may be wrong though……

Does UK tax law prevent a player registering himself as a Company . ?

If not -then the player could do so and then only pay Corporation tax rather than Income tax on any money he earned from his ‘ image’. That would mean he would end up paying a lot less tax.

  15. Guys, don’t bet Zenit. Players play against the club since they bought those two guys for 100 million euros. Some who were longer at Zenit wanted higher wages. Couple of them relegated to Zenit II. Few days back Russian police found bomb at Zenit training centre with card – NO HULK.

PS. Isn’t good solution for Rangers sell two players to Zenit? Somebody must tell them.

  16. Pre-match interviews should be about the match in question.

We all know that there will be churnalists there asking questions which have no bearing on, or relevance to, the game whatsoever.

The manager/coach/player should just smile and say – “I’m here to answer questions about tomorrow’s match – next please!”

It’s a really strange rhythm on it,quite disconcerting when I first heard it.

It should mean conflict, but melds well, and then the drummer retreats to a 4/4 for a bit, then ,I think, back to 6/8 it just confuses the bejaizus out of me!

Before Helsingborgs and Helsinki, the locals were genuinely very confident their teams were going to progress at expense of Celtic – general view: Celtic play high-power long ball game, not technical, lack finesse, league is weak and players lack discipline…that was a consistent theme from what seemed to be reasonable guys, not being boorish or smartasses…

I hope Muscovites are offering the bhoys and ghirls in Red Square similar views this afternoon…what are the chances Spartak players have that view too…highish?

Do not forget also Ronaldo’s kick off the ball at Scott Brown in the 1-1 game at CP in 2008 for which he should have received a red card. He didn’t even get booked for the incident. UEFA failed to take any retrospective action either

ole Dick said enough psycho killers in the audience at the ooooooolllllllle Burns Howff, without singin’ about them, and I expeck he had a point.
