WAIT FOR IT: CELTIC’S TITLE AFTER DUNDEE VOTE YES

CELTIC edged closer to their ninth successive title tonight with the news Dundee had voted YES to the SPFL’s proposal to call an immediate halt to the three divisions outwith the Premiership.

The saga ended with the Dens Park side’s belated ballot that will see the conclusion of the Championship, League One and League Two with the top flight likely to follow later this month.

The Hoops will be crowned champions once the situation is ratified with UEFA. Before the premature shutdown, the Parkhead side were 13 points ahead with only eight games to go.

This evening’s vote declares Dundee United as winners of the second tier, with Raith Rovers coming up from League One and Cove Rangers promoted from League Two.

It also means demotion for Partick Thistle from the Championship and Stranraer from League One. There will be no relegation from the bottom tier.

In the midst of all this, Brechin supporters might be tempted to use a 1xBet Casino Bonus  given how their club have lucked out in staying in League Two

The Tayside outfit’s acceptance will now also release almost £9million in prize money to shield financially-stricken clubs with revenue since the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic in the middle of last month.

The decision comes after they released a statement on Tuesday admitting it was their original intention to vote no, but decided to pause after the dramatic events of last Friday.

Tonight’s vote also means Hearts, bottom of the Premiership, will be relegated once the resolution is rubber-stamped.
