JAPANESE striker Shin Yamada will seal his £1.5million move from Kawasaki Frontale to Celtic next week.
The agreement is in place with the 25-year-old frontman and the J-League club and the switch – the Hoops’ sixth deal of the summer – will be rubberstamped after the forward undergoes a medical.
Yamada is currently with his country’s international squad for a tournament in South Korea, but once that is completed on Tuesday, he will be heading to Glasgow to get the business concluded, according to Sky Sports.

HAPPY DAZE…Shin Yamada celebrates another goal for Kawasaki Frontale.
The frontman first came to the champions’ notice when he scored 19 league goals in 31 appearances in 2023/24, but no move was initiated with Kyogo Furuhashi, Ange Postecoglou’s £4.6million signing from Vissel Kobe in July 2021, the team’s main hitman.
The former fans’ favourite left for £10million to French club Rennes at the turn of the year, but is now back in the UK with Chris Davies’ Championship side Birmingham City.
Now the way is open for Yamada to add his goal threat to that of his compatriot Daizen Maeda and Republic of Ireland international Adam Idah as Brendan Rodgers continues to strengthen his squad for the new campaign.
The pacy forward will become a Celtic player just a fortnight after his fellow-Japanese Hayato Inamura signed and made his debut with an impressive 45-minute display in the 2-1 win over Cork City in Ireland on Tuesday.
Rodgers has already brought in returning hero Kieran Tierney, Ross Doohan, Benjamin Nygren and Callum Osmand in this transfer window with the promise of more to follow.
