WAKASO’S FINAL DATE

CELTIC’S on-loan winger Mubarak Wakaso scored to help Ghana defeat hosts Equatorial Guinea 3-0 last night.
They now face the Ivory Coast in in Sunday’s Final of the African Cup of Nations.
Wakaso, on a temporary deal from Russian outfit Rubin Kazan until the end of the season, had been substituted when serious crowd trouble near the end marred the semi-final in Malabo.
Violence had previously erupted in the 42nd minute after Jordan Ayew fired the Ghanians ahead from the penalty spot.
Wakaso netted just before the interval when he completed a classic breakaway move.
All hell broke loose when Andre Ayew claimed the third and bottles were hurled at Ghana fans forcing them to pour onto the track.
Hundreds of supporters fled the stadium as the referee halted play with eight minutes to go.
Order was eventually restored after half an hour, with the help of tear gas and a police helicopter, but the referee only played the allotted three minutes of stoppage time.
Wakaso is now in the position of becoming the first Celtic player to win a medal this season.
The rest of the Hoops will have to wait until March 15 and the League Cup Final against Dundee United before they have the opportunity to join him in the silverware stakes.
