A couple of questions, if you don’t mind: When did the boon start ( significant revenue) and who was in power ?

Did Tony Benn come up with the idea just at the time of Callaghan’s demise ?

    OK

So you agree that the SNP and the Tories acted together to bring down the Callaghan government.

And presumably you agree that the outcome of that was Thatcher?

(I’m taking this slowly so as not to confuse you).

Meeting held in London – bain, king. Johnston….we expected Dave king to make an offer to start buying club but he could not progress it

But it did not happen as we learned his assets in the U.K Had been frozen

DF when did you find out about need to spend money on stadium on health and safety grounds? Mike Mcgill- end 2010

DF: does it mean work should have been done but wasn’t done? Yes that work didn’t arise overnight. Responsibly of board of directors

I would have to go and check the detail.

Hardly worth the effort for an argument about counter factual history, which, by definition is hypothetical.

What isn’t hypothetical, ie it did actually happen is that the SNP joined forces with the Tories to bring down the Callaghan Government, which led to Thatcher, which led to the de industrialisation of Britain, which was a disaster for Scotland and the working class but bloody brilliant for the SNP.

By the way, are you a member of the SNP?

My point was about the McCrone report and how Labour buried it.

    SNP never knew about it.

But id imagine in that period 1970-79, industrial strife, power cuts ,three day week etc, might have played a part in Callaghans downfall, no?

Widen your perspective a bit from your standardized Labour understanding of society.

For the last time…Im not a Nat.

Im looking at the bigger picture in political terms…..not solely in Labour terms, like you.

What i say is true….Labour buried the McCrone report, which revealed that Scotland would be a rich nation if in control of our own oil .

You chose the Hun Union, over the future welfare of the people of Scotland.

Your party facilitated the theft of Scottish resources, which were then diverted to London, to be swallowed by Tory sharks.

Just prior to the 1974 General Election I was in a pub in Alexandria, a neutral venue but more than its fair share of Tims, it was allegedly the pub that Celtic bought apprentice joiner James Kelly when he signed for them, it was at one time run by his brother Joe and was known by the oul timers as “Kellys”.

Anyway, this is in an era when there’s plenty of work and the average worker was earning around 25 county downs a week, with a bit of overtime it would rise tae 30.

We are all discussing the election and Labour’s chances now that Mick McGahey had dethroned sailor boy teddy’s government when one of the punters at the bar told all and sundry in an area once known as “Little Moscow” that he was voting tory as he was an orangeman. There was a stunned silence.

When he finished his solitary pint and left one of the barmen said he could only afford the one pint as he was working in a bakery getting 13 pound a week.

So 5 days after humiliating their team at Poundland, the Laptop Loyal say the trouble last week was all our fault? Don’t buy the rags…….

  22. I am not a member of any Political Party, never have been never will be.

I voted Labour for ALL of my adult life at every local and/or General Election

I voted “YES” at Indy vote, and I was disgusted to see Labour jumping into bed with the Tories etc, and wanting the “Status Quo”…which obviously suited the Labour agenda. ( Unionist party).

What I am rather baffled by is that as Celtic supporters MOST of us sing about “Freedom” for ALL countries and ” How The Empire is Finished” at one time or other etc etc. Before I get jumped on..I said MOST Celtic fans…not ALL.

However, when it comes to the possibility of an Independent Scotland ( Free of any Brit Empire that may still remain…feckin Falklands, Gibraltor etc), some on here are strongly opposed ?

Now, each to their own opinion….but why is independence okay for other countries but as long as it’s not Scotland ?

    I just don’t get it.

Anyway, it’s fair to say that this rise in the Tory’s/UKIP support in Scotland with these local elections, have certainly made this Celtic’s mind up.

Never thought I’d see the day…….

The problem with your analysis is that there could be countless generations of people who will have their three score years and ten on this earth before your revolution happens.

So, unless you just want to wallow in self righteousness , the job at hand is to make the best of it in the here and now.

That entails embracing, or at least reaching an accommodation with, reformism. You don’t have to abandon your long term ambitions by doing so. Small things can make people’s lives better for people who might not live long enough to see your promised land. Small things like the NHS or tax credits or whatever, introduced by reformists.

But, believe me, you are a nationalist.

You’ll find Labour were in charge for long periods in the 1970’s when the Sovereign fund should have been set-up.

Sort of blows your polarised views out the water.

In actual fact Ernie Bhoy both Labour and the Tories have screwed the workers for decades.

Guys like Corbyn, Tony Benn should be aspirational figures. Not here, they are recognised for what they are a threat. to the establishment and side-tracked. Their own party thwarts them.

Ernie, here’s something to chew on. During the Indy referendum your hostility and nonsense played a fair part in swaying me to vote Yes. True, for a Labour man you seldom vent at the Conservatives that’s telling. Your angst on here, too often (like your thoughtless assertion about those wee dogs) cause me to recoil.

Me, a member of the SNP ? No. I’m actually a socialist who is desperate to have that type of government. Too often in the 80’s and recently, my vote has been nullified by other’s aims and politics.

Nowadays, Labour seem un-electable, like Shettleston today ?

I think of ‘revolution’ in terms of people throwing off their ridiculous faith in a rigged system.

A transformation in political thinking, not the Storming of the Bastille, although that would be fun:)

You cannot convince me, that the bogus monstrosity of parliamentary politics has any value or merit whatsoever.

Reform only comes from obvious suffering, and its merely crumbs from the table.

Your vote is the very thing that allows the small political elite control….you play to their rules.

This is so old, that its creaking and ready to fall.

It only needs a push, and not a violent one.

  32. Would be nice to see a couple of youngsters get some game time tomorrow, Anthony Ralston maybe at right back with Michael Johnston getting some game time later, he was excellent in the game against the deed clubs weans.

Quite a list of players who could be shown the door in the summer or who’s contracts expire.

Izzy, Toure, Sviatchenko, Commons, Ambrose, GMS, Janko, O’Connell, Allan and Ciftci.

Toure may be kept on as a coach it seems, Sviatchenko needs to buck up his ideas and Ajer will come back from Kilmarnock. If Brendan buys a centre half, a full back and a striker I would expect Erik the Viking to be moved on.

Should be great weather in Glasgow tomorrow perfect for watching the Hoops!

I think most people are very easily led so I won`t say it surprises me that many Celtic supporters still read these `papers . It does, however, sadden and frustrate me.
