Walsh was also the man in the middle when the teams met in the same competition at the semi-final stage in November last year.

The Hoops, then the holders, won 3-1 in extra-time with goals from Johnny Kenny, Callum McGregor and Callum Osmand. The Ibrox team’s consolation goal came via a late penalty-kick from former captain James Tavernier.

Walsh and McInnes have already had a heated exchange this season after the Govan gaffer confronted the referee following the Ibrox team’s 1-1 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice in the manager’s debut last month.
