The “we need a big name” Brigade always frustrate me when we are searching for a new manager. There are so many qualities a manager needs, being well-known is not one of them, as Ange Postecoglou is dutifully illustrating.
A “name” makes life easier for the appointees. Fans are always keen to see cash spent, and often the famous are the more expensive. Appointing someone with name recognition takes the heat off for a while. Contrast this to the reaction from some places to Ronny Deila getting the Celtic job in 2014, a young manager who over-achieved at a club most of us did not know how to spell (Stremsgodset).
Young Celtic fans will not be aware how big a name Liam Brady was when he took the Celtic job in 1991. One of the most cultured midfielders in Europe, Brady starred for Arsenal and Juventus, a legend on the field, a quiet nonentity in the dugout.
If anything, John Barnes was an even bigger playing legend for Liverpool and England when he drove up Kerrydale St in 1999. It transpired that goal in the Maracana was not proof positive of managerial abilities. Roy Keane is also a big name, just ponder that for a minute.
Being tactically gifted, an effective communicator of ideas and instructions, as well as a working knowledge of a value market to strengthen your squad. These are all high on my list. You want a name to please the fans? Knock yourself out.

Respectfully, you misunderstand what the George Galloway question is about.
I respectfully asked a simple question, and several others who seem to have disappeared, also agreed with my question.
The question is simple.
Over a month ago, Martin Seville asked initially, and didn’t get an answer, so I wondered, why?
This blog is littered with put down merchants, pedantics, know alls, denialists, etc, etc, so as Martin initially pointed out, and I agree 100%….
100% of Celtic FC’s enemies are 100% terrified of George Galloway.
So, I asked for a single name, like Martin did, for a Scots or UK MP, or journalist, who would not be handed their ass on a plate after a head to head with George Galloway?
So far, not a single name has been put forward from any of these categories, a Scots or UK MP, or Scots, or UK journalist.
Then the question developed into (by me) a new question.
Why don’t we sack the entire Celtic executive, PLC downwards, and replace these complicit cowards, with a man from whom, 100% of our enemies are terrified of?
Why not? Why put up with a PLC who’d jail you as soon as look at you?
It could be argued, by me, that if George Galloway was in charge of Celtic FC, instead of those who were, supposedly, looking after Celtic FC’s interests in season’s, 2009, 2010, 2011, then Galloway wouldn’t have played along with the, “Honest Mistake”, trio of seasons, PLC looking the other way, throwing 3 league titles in a row, because David Murray’s share flotation proposals for the raising of £50 million, were rubber eared by Rangers fans, so in the interests of OF maintenance, Celtic PLC decide to throw 3 league titles?
No !!! A George Galloway led Celtic FC, would’ve did the Rangers fans a favor, by going public about their financial problems, and outed those sleekits from, Ibrox PLC, SMSM, and football authorities, who instead of dealing with the burning Ibrox financial issue, were proposing that Celtic, and other fans be cheated, to avoid an Ibrox collapse, and by doing so, in a carefully worded way, as only Mr Galloway can, would’ve sparked Rangers fans to sack David Murray, football authorities, and avoided all of this, “Same Club, New They Died” never ending pantomime, were Celtic supporters, and the general public would be subject to sleekit tax rise’s to pay out to all of the maliciously prosecuted squirrels, whilst David Murray sits in the house laughing at it all, which is happening right now!
This same club issue, is still an unresolved issue, because no one who has come up against it, has approached it with honesty, or integrity. Not a single person can be trusted to honestly resolve the issue, which is not just cheating Celtic supporters, who are cheated victims, but what about Rangers fans?
Rangers fans were also lied to, yes they won all the trophies, but they didn’t know they were screwing HMRC to do so, whilst the EBT corruption was at its full effect.
Rangers fans didn’t know their club was cheating HMRC as they cheated Celtic supporters, and lots of other supporters out of 20+ trophies.
So the victims are, probably every clubs fans who played Rangers during the EBT corruption period, and Rangers fans also, because they didn’t have a Phil Mac to keep them posted, so they became paranoid and thought that Timmy was making up stuff about them.
Rangers fans didn’t have a ‘Phil Mac’ to keep them posted about events, even to this day they probably still don’t know half as much as what Celtic supporters know, about Rangers and the entire EBT episode.
So understandably, from me anyway, unknowing Rangers fans have jumped to the defensive, consumed by unknowing paranoia, that the entire Scottish establishment has colluded to destroy Rangers FC, then a day later the impression was that Rangers FC didn’t die, even Celtic, Rangers greatest rivals, kept OF tickets at the same price, so if you’re a Rangers fan, you’d be thinking, what is going on here?
All of this circus of confusion, has been generated by a swamp of liars, not one person of officialdom, or any Celtic director was able to, or allowed to accurately address the Rangers EBT corruption episode.
Not an, MSP, journalist, Scottish football official, at any level, capable of being brutally honest about this stinking scandal, which is still being lied about today.
None of the above would’ve happened to any supporters if it was the one man who wouldn’t have signed Celtic, Rangers, or any Scottish football fan up to this decade long crooked swamp, maybe soon to be repeated? that man is as I keep saying, like Martin Seville said,

I follow a few of the US Women World Cup winning squad on Twitter after I read about this subject last year. Megan Rapinhoe is a vocal equal rights/equal pay campaigner – they feel they have right on their side and wind in their sails.
All it would need is a winning verdict in a Bosman-type court action for the law to compel equal pay & conditions for in-house womens’ squads – to criticize might be seen as discrimitory.
This is a real live issue and in my opinion it won’t go away. From Finland to Brazil, Australia to Ireland, England to New Zealand, Sweden to US and many more have all agreed equal international pay.

The story was far from discredited in The Athletic interview he gave. In fact he confirmed it. It is always going to be difficult in taking DD’ word at face value; he did not get where he is financially by being committed to the unvarnished truth.
Here is a Leicester City fan’s take on this “discreditng”. I find it quite an even handed interpratation:-

Here’s what I asserted about Brendan and I follow it with what the article shows.
I stated that BR wanted to leave earlier than he did. He had asked Celtic for permission to talk to the Chinese oufit about going to them. DD and PL were upset that he was thinking of going after committing to them and with us helping him re-establish his rep. DD insisted that BR honour his contract and that our club would get compensation if he was allowed to leave in future. BR , however reluctantly, agreed to stay on but trust was damaged on both sides. DD and PL started considering their next manager and got very wary about giving transfer funds to a “want away” manager. BR used this changed atmosphere to start trailing hints to the fan that he was unhappy. This was a win: win strategy of leaking for him. He knew his rep was hot because success at Celtic had rehabilitated his rep down south so, this way, he would still get his new job when it came and the fans would not blame him as he was telling them it was down to a disagreement over transfer policy, a transfer policy he accepted when he came to the club and worked within, without complaint, until the attractive job offers started to arrive. In the end it suited all parties to move on and it suits none of them to dirty the water around it now. SO BR has remained largely silent about it, being less inclined to “leak” to the Celtic fan base, than he had been when he felt “trapped” in his contract. And DD and PL kept quiet too until DD gave his Athletic interview to try and paint a rosier version of closeness than existed at the time. Do not be fooled, DD was appalled and felt let down by BR wanting away at that time nad he won his battle with BR. He knew the writing was on the wall however and that BR would leave at some not too distant date so he arranged for Celtic to get the compensation we were due for this.
None of the important points about the view I was supporting above was discredited by The Athletic interview., even if you do take DD at face value. The interview shows that

BR did want to pursue it
DD “persuaded” him not to.
The next period at Ce;tic was regularly peppered with “hints to Celtic fans that he was unhappy, a communication message that had been absent from his earlier spell with us under similar circumstances ( all that had changed was the trust in BR staying).
BR eventually got his move, a better offer (not necessarily financially but definately as a jump to a Top 6 English club) than the Chinese club. Celtic got a hefty compensation fee for losing a near complete back room team while league victory and SC success remained in the balance. ( we will soon find out if the mid-season Ibrox new boss can replicate NFL’s achievements in steering us home under these circumstances)
So, for me, not much has been discredited, other than the ability some have to trust the words of people they would otherwise distrust, just because they feel it might muddy the waters around the accepted run of events.
But, as I say, being scared of a liverpool youth coach never entered BR’s thinking.
