VICTOR WANYAMA is on his way back to Scotland.
The former Celtic fans’ favourite, now 33, has been linked with a return to the Hoops over the years since leaving for Southampton in a £12.5million deal in July 2013.
However, Wanyama’s destination is East End Park and not the east end of Glasgow as he prepares for a reunion with Neil Lennon at Dunfermline.
The former Hoops double-act are poised to get together again with the Kenya-born midfielder set to agree a deal until the end of the season, according to a report in the local media.
THAT’S MY BHOY…Neil Lennon and Victor Wanyama embrace during their two years together at Celtic.
Wanyama won back-to-back titles in his two years at Parkhead after arriving on a bargain £900,000 switch from Belgian club SC Beerschot in June 2011.
He scored 13 goals – including one in the memorable 2-1 Champions League victory over Barcelona in November 2012 – in 91 appearances in all competitions for Lenny’s team.
The powerhouse performer also had a spell at Spurs before spending four years at MLS club CF Montreal where he was a team-mate of Alistair Johnston.
The Kenyan international became a free agent at the turn of the year and that alerted the new Fife boss who has seven games to ensure survival for the club who are currently struggling in the Championship, just six points away from rock-bottom Airdrie.
If a deal is concluded in time, Wanyama could be included in Dunfermline’s squad for the crucial encounter against former colleague Scott Brown’s Ayr United at Somerset Park on Saturday.
