WATCH AGAIN AS CELTIC WIN 56th CROWN

CELTIC became the first team since 1935 to win the championship after losing eight games.

Scotland’s title kings clinched their fifth successive crown with their 3-1 victory over Hearts at an emotionally-charged Parkhead yesterday with goals from Arne Engels (pen), Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand.

Ninety-one years have passed since Rangers achieved the feat, but that has now been equalled by Martin O’Neill’s never-say-die Hoops side who had been written off by so many critics during a faltering campaign.

However, Callum McGregor and the Bhoys responded like true champions after a dismal 2-0 defeat to Dundee United at Tannadice on March 22.

They launched their comeback bid with a 2-1 victory over Dundee at Dens Park a week later on their way to an astonishing winning sequence against St Mirren (1-0), Falkirk (3-1), Hibs (2-1), Rangers (3-1) and Motherwell (3-2) before squaring up to Derek McInnes’ Edinburgh side.

Hearts arrived in the east end of Glasgow one point ahead, but completed the league campaign two adrift of Celtic.

It pays never to write off the Hoops who have now conquered the domestic scene a record FIFTY-SIX times.
