WATCH AGAIN AS MARTIN ROLLS BACK THE YEARS

0

MARTIN O’NEILL must have enjoyed a deja vu experience on the De Kuip touchline as Celtic stormed to a 3-1 Europa League triumph over Feyenoord in Rotterdam last night.

It was the Hoops’ first win in Holland since the team overcame Ajax by the identical scoreline in Amsterdam on August 8 2021.

And the charismatic Irishman was the man in charge that evening as he patrolled the sidelines and cajoled his team to a famous victory.

Over 24 years ago, O’Neill watched as Bobby Petta, Didier Agathe and Chris Sutton claimed the goals to silence the home support and send the travelling fans home happy.

NUMBER ONE…Yang Hyun-jun races behind the goal after slamming Reo Hatate’s lobbed pass into the Feyenoord net.

NUMBER TWO…Reo Hatate pounces on an error from the Dutch keeper.

NUMBER THREE…Benjamin Nygren (8) thumps in the killer goal in Rotterdam.

On this occasion, it was Yang Hyun-jun, Reo Hatate and Benjamin Nygren on the trigger to get the job done against Robin van Persie’s side who had opened the scoring in the eleventh minute.

O’Neill was thrilled to roll back the years in such astonishing fashion.

But no-one should be really surprised what the 73-year-old gaffer can achieve.

He stood up to be counted last month and answered the call after Brendan Rodgers’ sudden resignation.

O’Neill will have seventh and final game as Celtic interim boss against Hibs at Easter Road on Sunday.

This special man deserves to go out as a winner.
