WATCH AGAIN: CALLUM’S CRACKER

CALLUM McGREGOR is swiftly becoming Martin O’Neill’s go-to player.

The Celtic skipper threw the champions a lifeline in Paisley last night when he thundered in the only goal of a tense encounter with practically the last kick of the ball.

The match had been heading for a scoreless stalemate when the 32-year-old onfield leader made a crucial impact in the fifth minute of stoppage-time to make sure all three Premiership points were heading back to Parkhead.

THAT’S MY BHOY…matchwinner Callum McGregor receives a hug from Kasper Schmeichel as Benjamin Nygren prepares to join in the celebrations.

It was a similar story three weeks earlier when the former Scotland international exploded onto the scene in extra-time of another dramatic confrontation in the Premier Sports League Cup semi-final against Rangers at Hampden.

The tie was deadlocked at 1-1 in the extra period when McGregor emerged with another stunning strike to pilot the holders into the showpiece finale at the national stadium on Sunday December 14 where they will again lock horns with Stephen Robinson’s battlers.

The venomous effort against the Ibrox club turned the match in the Hoops’ favour and Callum Osmand claimed the killer third goal in the 3-1 triumph.

McGregor’s latest wonder goal deserves a second look courtesy of those good folk at Celtic TV Unique Angle.
