CELTIC were rampant as they raced to a 3-0 victory over Motherwell at Fir Park, a venue that is traditionally a tough place for the Hoops to perform.

Brendan Rodgers’ men took 27 minutes to get into their stride on this occasion, but they dominated proceedings after Luke McCowan’s fine opening goal against stubborn hosts.

Canadian international defender Alistair Johnston, standing in as captain in the absence of Callum McGregor, led from the front as he dived fo bullet in the second and Adam Idah stroked in No.3 after excellent service from fellow-substitute Nicolas Kuhn.

The victory saw the champions pole-vault Aberdeen back to the Premiership pinnacle, the Hoops on top on goal difference with both clubs on 25 points.

In the nine games played so far, Rodgers’ firing squad have rattled in 27 strikes with only three conceded to give them a plus-24 total.

The Dons have hit 18 goals and lost eight for plus 10.

Celtic now welcome Dundee to Parkhead on Wednesday night while the north-east club take on Rangers at Pittodrie at the same time.
