CELTIC looked as though they had stepped onto the League Cup banana skin for the second successive season as they toiled against Falkirk.
Last time out, in only Brendan Rodgers’ third game as manager since his summer comeback, they toppled out of the tournament as they crashed 1-0 at the first hurdle to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
For 70 minutes against their Championship opponents at Parkhead in the quarter-final confrontation yesterday, they trailed 2-1 after twice going behind in the first-half.

Ross MacIver stunned the Hoops and the home fans by rifling in the opener in the eleventh minute and, after Paulo Bernardo had restored parity with a blistering right-foot volley, Kasper Schmeichel was left helpless for a second time when the unmarked Finn Yeats was allowed to place a header behind him on the stroke of half-time.
As the champions stared at the competition’s exit, Rodgers stirred his team with a four-man switch just after the hour mark.
A revitalised Celtic, with Nicolas Kuhn running amok, gratefully accepted the lifeline and fired in four goals beyond the gallant Nicky Hogarth.
Adam Idah collected two and the German winger also claimed a double.
