WATCH AGAIN: JAMESY’S SWEET 16

0

BETTER late than never, that could be James Forrest’s adage for the season.

Celtic’s evergreen winger had been firing blanks ever since appearing against Kilmarnock on the opening day of the Premiership at Parkhead on August 4.

Reo Hatate got the ball rolling in the 4-0 victory over the Ayrshire club and Liam Scales, Nicolas Kuhn and Anthony Ralston claimed the others.

Forrest failed to join the goal parade and, amazingly, that barrier-breaking strike to make in 16-in-a-row in a wonderful sequence had eluded the 33-year-old forward. Until yesterday.

BHOY OH BOY…James Forrest shares the joy with a young Celtic fan.

The Scotland international raider, who had replaced Kuhn 10 minutes after the turnaround, was in the mood to rectify the situation that would put him on a par with Hoops legends Jimmy McGrory and Paul McStay.

With Brendan Rodgers’ side trailing to a Jonah Ayunga goal, the hosts were stung into retaliatory action with Forrest to the forefront of the attacks on Zach Hemming’s goal.

With just one minute of stoppage-time to play, Alistair Johnston rolled a pass in front of his veteran team-mate.

Sixty thousand fans held their breath in the packed stadium as Forret raced onto the ball before striking a right-foot drive that zipped low into the net.

Cue bedlam in the stands as Forrest, mobbed by his delighted colleagues, took a well-earned bow.

It’s certainly worth a second look, courtesy of those goal folk at Celtic TV Unique Angle.
