CALLUM McGREGOR rifled in his seventh goal of the season to send Celtic on their way to a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Parkhead last night.
The Rugby Park had already survived a couple of scares before the inspirational Hoops skipper came on the scene in the 12th minute to claim the holders’ first strike of this season’s adventure.
McGregor edged forward with menace onto a pass from Reo Hatate before unleashing a crisp left-foot drive from 25 yards that arrowed low past the sprawling Kieran O’Hara to get the show on the road.
And Killie cannot say they weren’t warned. It was the champions’ captain who broke their barrier in the Premiership tussle in November when a ball over from the right foxed Robby McCrorie to nestle in the back of his net.
That opened the way for Nicolas Kuhn to skip his way into position to clip in the killer second goal to give Brendan Rodgers’ men three more points in their quest for a fourth successive title.
Daizen Maeda made sure the holders would be in tomorrow night’s fifth round draw with No.2 in the 70th minute.
It’s worth a second look, courtesy of those good folk at Celtic TV Unique Angle.
