JEFFREY SCHLUPP reinforced the hopes of a legion of new fans with his impressive display in the 5-2 victory over St Mirren in Paisley as Celtic powered to a 16-point advantage at the Premiership summit.
The 32-year-old left-back arrived at the champions on deadline day on a short-term loan from Crystal Palace and it hasn’t taken the German-born Ghanian international long to win over the Hoops supporters.
Brendan Rodgers is being urged to make the switch permanent with the versatile defender out of contract at the London club at the end of May.
TAKE OFF…Jeffrey Schlupp wallops Celtic into the lead against St Mirren in Paisley with his first goal for the champions.
BHOY, OH BHOY…Jeffrey Schlupp is smiles better after setting up No.5 for Yang Hyun-jun.
Schlupp played a major role in the victory over Stephen Robinson’s battlers by claiming the opening strike – his first for Celtic – and then combing superbly with Filipe Jota before whipping over a brilliant left-wing cross for Yang Hyun-jun to rise and bullet in his second and the visitors’ fifth goal in stoppage-time.
With Greg Taylor a free agent in the summer and former fans’ favourite Kieran Tierney on his way back after six years at Arsenal, Rodgers will require to strengthen on the left-hand side of the team.
Schlupp looks like he could slot right in.
