WATCH AGAIN: SWEDE DREAMS AS BENJI NOTCHES No.20

BENJAMIN NYGREN’S remarkable achievement of hoisting his impressive tally to 20 goals in his debut season went largely unnoticed and unfeted at the weekend.

The prolific Swedish midfielder clipped in the final goal as Celtic overcame St Mirren 6-2 following a dramatic extra-time scoring spree in their Scottish Cup last-four encounter at Hampden yesterday.

Kelechi Iheanacho, with an eye-catching double, and Luke McCowan had taken the scoreline to 5-2 with their strikes in the added-on half-hour.

THREE CHEERS…Celtic scorers Daizen Maeda, Kelechi Iheanacho and Luke McCowan celebrate the fourth goal in the 6-2 Scottish Cup semi-final blitz against St Mirren.

Daizen Maeda and Anthony Ralston had made it 2-0 for the Hoops at the interval before Mikael Mandon’s duo forced the confrontation into a memorable extra period.

With the Saints still reeling following the loss of three goals in a whirlwind five-minute period, Nygren, a bargain £1.7million recruit in the summer, piled on the misery when he fired in No.6.

Nygren missed out on Celtic’s 3-1 loss to the same opponents in the Premier Sports League Cup Final at Hampden in mid-December.

Now he is looking forward to getting the nod from Martin O’Neill to face Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline in the soccer showpiece on Saturday May 23.

The Hoops’ joy of six is certainly worth another look, courtesy of those good folk at Celtic TV Unique Angle.
