IT WAS the same old story as Celtic got the American tour underway in Washington this morning with a 4-0 win over DC United.
Skipper-for-the-night Matt O’Riley resumed where he left off from the previous season in which he claimed 19 goals.
In the American capital, the in-demand Hoops playmaker notched a first-half double while Mikey Johnston and James Forrest added the others against the MLS outfit.
Thousands of Celtic supporters were in the stadium to catch a glimpse of their heroes. Among the fans was latest recruit Kasper Schmeichel with the Denmark’s legendary keeper arriving in the States just before kick-off.
Scott Bain played the opening 45 minutes before being replaced by £1million new Bhoy Viljami Sinisalo who joined from Aston Villa during the week.
Brendan Rodgers would have been satisfied with the opening encounter and now it’s onto North Carolina for Wednesday’s meeting with English champions Manchester City.
Their performance is worth a second look courtesy of those good folk at Celtic TV.
Enjoy.
