BRENDAN RODGERS remained relaxed and positive as Celtic continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-2 loss against Estrela da Amadora in the closed-doors encounter at Benfica’s training campus yesterday.
He welcomed back Kieran Tierney after the fans’ favourite’s six-year absence at Arsenal and he also got the chance to run the rule over £1.7million Swedish winger Benjamin Nygren.
Rodgers observed: “We’re only a couple of weeks in and there were some good moments, some not so good, young players getting opportunities, some players playing their first minutes of pre-season.

“We’ll get sharper. The guys have had a heavy week, so they were maybe a wee bit leggy.”
Reo Hatate and Adam Idah were the marksmen with a couple of neat finishes after some excellent build-up play.
For the opening goal, there were some quick movement between Luke McCowan and Marco Tilio before the Australian winger flashed over a low cross from the right and Hatate made no mistake with a composed effort from 12 yards.
Idah claimed the second following the break after being set up by new Bhoy Nygren with an inviting cross from the right that saw the Republic of Ireland international arrive bang on time to slip the ball home from close range.
