CAMERON CARTER-VICKERS refuses to be lured into a false sense of security, despite Celtic’s 100 per cent start to their bid for a sixth successive title.
Five games and five wins have the champions back in pole position as they hold a three-point advantage over Hearts.
The Hoops had to display their battling qualities against St Mirren in Paisley on Saturday evening as they came back from a goal down at the interval to seal another triumph with strikes from Liam Scales, atoning for his handball that gifted the hosts a penalty-kick opener, and Yang Hyun-jun.

ON THE BALL…Cameron Carter-Vickers in control against St Mirren.
But Carter-Vickers is not being fooled and insists there is plenty of room for improvement in the team that is still trying to gel with new players such as Camilo Duran, Haissem Hassan and Mika Baur starting against the Saints while on-loan pair Oliver Sorensen and Shin Mheuka were introduced in the second-half.
Record signing Kasper Hogh would have certainly been involved, but the Danish dangerman sat out his second consecutive game through injury and is still a doubt for Wednesday’s match against St Johnstone in Perth.
Reflecting on the slog in Paisley. Carter-Vickers said: “I don’t think I’ve ever had an easy or simple game at St Mirren.
“Pretty much whenever you go away from home you always expect it to be tough. In my six years here, I can’t remember an easy one against St Mirren.
“It was tough again, so it was great to get the three points. In the first-half, I thought we actually played fairly well, minus the handball and penalty.
“They didn’t create that many chances and we created a fair few ourselves. But it was tough in the end and I was glad to win it.”
The England-born USA international central defender, speaking to the Daily Mail, added: “I think in general we can control games better. Most of their chances probably came after 70, 75 minutes.
“We started going a bit longer and we were giving them the ball back, the game was a bit more open and end to end, which didn’t really suit us.
“That’s definitely something we can improve.”
