We know to expect silence from Crawford Allan

178

It is with a heavy heart I write about referees.  Don Robertson made a glaring mistake in not awarding Celtic a first half penalty against Ross County on Saturday for a remarkably obvious handball incident.  Maybe its because we won the game that I feel generous enough to accept it was a mistake.  I’m less convinced that all three referees on active duty missed the incident.  That doesn’t sound credible.

I bet Bobby Madden has some interesting thoughts on the penalty he awarded at Dens Park yesterday.  This is less easy to explain as a mistake, how can you miss seeing something that did not happen?  What Madden’s motivation was to make his decision is worthy of consideration by SFA head of refereeing, Crawford Allan.

Allan has only spoken out against his referees’ decisions when he believed they benefited Celtic.  We know to expect silence from him this week.

  1. Celtic can’t complain about MIBs refereeing games that don’t include us but they have to in games in which we are involved like last Saturday’s. Ross County had a man sent off and had a penalty given against them. So, it might seem the MIB favoured us. Nothing could be further from the truth. From the start, he allowed Ross County players freedom to kick us at will, which, I imagine gave the one ordered off the false impression that he could hack at will. The MIB also denied us one (and possibly 2) penalty(s) before he gave us one when we were 3 goals ahead. I wonder if he would have given that one, if we hadn’t scored up until then.

No it isn’t but bizarrely 3 of those involved ( Inc myself) in its development did work at Glenmorangie at varying times this past 28 years.

I am sure you will be impressed with the level of craftsmanship that has gone into this. There has never been anything like it, even a special nod to both Kyogo and Ange !

What evidence do you have that Rodgers really was stymied by Peter Lawwell Re castange ?

    —-

There is hardly a shred of hard-evidence for anything that Peter Lawwell has been accused of in recent years. There are allegations, inferences and accusations – by people who want them to be true. He is a ‘bogeyman’ mostly because he earned a handsome salary that those who employed him obviously thought he was worth. His record overseeing the second-most successful football period in the club’s history will take some beating – in parallel he made Celtic the most financially successful organisation in the history of Scottish sport.

Castagne? He is nearly a footnote in Celtic’s history.

It would be a shame to let that go untasted. So, I have a wee idea…..

  9. The way Ross County played and big Mackay having the same moaning , greetin and torn faced ‘attributes’ as Levein , Jeffries and Nielsen , give him a good chance of being Hearts’ next manager 😩😩.

  11. Had CQN been around for seventy years, the current posts about refereeing in Scotland would be indistinguishable from the 1952 variety.

  12. had the score been 0-0 there is no way Robertson would have sent the county player off. The game was done at 3-0 and only then did he decide to apply the rules properly – sneaky af!

I would love to see stats on when opposing players get booked against us and them. It appears when they play , the opposing teams get 2-3 bookings in the first have to nullify any fight/dig they may have. When playing Celtic is is a different story imo.

    Stats would be interesting!

    Belmont Brian – cheers.

Re ref question earlier, I assume the decision has not yet been made?

In truth there are only six candidates

    Beaton

    Madden

    McLean

    Collum

    Clancy

    Walsh

The first three are in the bag already. No further “action” required by Sevco.

Collum and Clancy have recently been neutered by Sevco.

    The response by the SFA

    – a pitiful £6k fine in the Collum case

    – Total silence in the Clancy case

    …. has totally undermined both.

Absolutely disgusting acquiescence and failure of leadership from Crawford “Titch” Allen.

Walsh hasn’t been publicly nobbled yet by Sevco ….

…. but his disgraceful performance during our final match at Ibrox last season

… allied to his ignoring a blatant assault by Chris Kane on Cameron Carter-Vickers this season?

    … suggests no action needed.

  14. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

    Re ticket allocation ….

    … Take the 700.

And for the final derby of the season

.. give them 0 for the final game

    OR

    700 tickets at £1,429 each

A wee heads up for any whisky and Celtic fans. Something pretty special and totally unique is in the offing over the next few days.

A reflection of the special fusion of Japanese, Scottish and indeed even Australian has been prepared in very limited numbers to commemorate a very special ‘revolution’ which we are all enjoying this season.

The liquid concept and the dram itself is truly special and crafted as a labour of love. The unique nature of it will make the release of just 2023 bottles very collectable. Pushing the boundaries just as Ange and the team has done all season.

Hopefully it will be a truly celebratory dram for plenty come the 15th May or even the 21st May !

What part of the fusion is Australian ? Wine casked?

What would be the base scotch or Japanese whisk(ey)

  18. celtic should’ve told, dave king, where to get off in terms of cutting oldfirm ticket allocations.

cutting fans out of the game should’ve been stood up to by lawwell.

what have all of these creeps like, dave king, ch4news, james dornan, got in their armory that would frighten lawwell off?

it sends out a “lawwell is conflicted” message imho.

but why would lawwell be conflicted?

cutting fans allocation because, dave king, does it is to play dave kings, game.

    but why?

is the oldfirm more important than celtic, in lawwell’s eyes?

what happened to “celtic are stand alone club”?

can’t stand the huns supporters at games, but the game isn’t correct to allow clubs to cut visiting fans allocation of tickets unless for violence, wrecking toilets, breaking seats, etc.

we should’ve did what lawwell said was on our tin, stand alone, not play tit for tat school playground games.

the entire visiting allocations must be restored next season, or celtic fc is now a club that presents itself to used as a pawn for the football version of, cancel culture.

in fact it would be better to have a full end behind each goal with bottom tier seats removed and, the hun end of parkhead split it down the middle with old style crowd barriers, not the new safety barriers which are just a pain in the ass, and a massive overreaction to hillsborough, say the liverpool fans.

elect a new breed of politicians who’ll legalise cannabis, regulated of course, and cancer will disappear, along with big pharma.

the game needs a lot of things looked at, too many seats, admission prices, wage capping, no billionaire, or, millionaires, owning clubs, if hearts fans can run their club, why not us?

Tangent – how many of us ever dreamed we played for our beloved Hoops ?

I did last night (despite my advancing years) and I was so excited I’d get to share the dream w fellow Tic fans.

Was a cup final against Leeds on a huge field, and the guy marking me had all the sly bumps, kicks and pulls. Think I felt I was struggling in the match and a let-down as a Celt.

Our keeper humps it up the park and I’m away from him quick but he’s kicking my ankles to trip me up, but I suddenly feel I have the better of him; he closes in but I find energy to pull wide of him and bear down towards goals.

There’s hardly any other players round on this huge pitch and as he closes in, again I nudge ahead and get a shot off and watch it head goalwards – but there’s no goals and no sight of the Leeds goalie. Just a couple of auld traffic cones!

In truth, I rocket it over the top of one of the cones so it was a dubious ‘goal’. But I’d hit it like a rocket and turn and give my team-mates – and the ref – the thumbs up!! Right then, the replay is playing on the big screen so I – brimming with bravado – point the ref towards the huge footage replay and grin like a loon. Amazingly he gives it and I’m quickly congratulated by big Billy, wee Joe Miller and – believe this – Mojo!!!

The joy was amazing and in the dream I actually thought the CQN bhoys are gunna love me – not for the story – but for getting us a Cup win v Leeds ;) ;) ;)

I’m grinning over the muesli this morning – surreal or whit !!

It is perfectly feasible for any government to have no plans to do ABC, then through time as circumstances change, do ABC.

In 2019/20 the government took the UK out of the EU. In 2015 the government had no plans to take the UK out of the EU. Were the government lying in 2015? Of course not.

I find it interesting that Irish Whiskey appears to be getting back to its predominant position in world whiskey, not got the numbers but read it was getting close. I believe that Scotch only got popular as a result of prohibition and de Valera’s insistence that the Irish distillers respected American law
