We know to expect silence from Crawford Allan

178

It is with a heavy heart I write about referees.  Don Robertson made a glaring mistake in not awarding Celtic a first half penalty against Ross County on Saturday for a remarkably obvious handball incident.  Maybe its because we won the game that I feel generous enough to accept it was a mistake.  I’m less convinced that all three referees on active duty missed the incident.  That doesn’t sound credible.

I bet Bobby Madden has some interesting thoughts on the penalty he awarded at Dens Park yesterday.  This is less easy to explain as a mistake, how can you miss seeing something that did not happen?  What Madden’s motivation was to make his decision is worthy of consideration by SFA head of refereeing, Crawford Allan.

Allan has only spoken out against his referees’ decisions when he believed they benefited Celtic.  We know to expect silence from him this week.

I met George Galloway in the late 90s during the campaign for the little Iraqi girl, Mariam. I thought he was a good guy. What a mug I was.

There are only a couple of people I respect for their views on Radio Scotland’s football programmes. One is Michael Stewart, the other is Richard Foster.

I too used to respect Michael Stewart but had to endure the way he co commentated on the League Cup final was a real eye opener. He absolutely castigated Starfelt throughout the game at one time calling his defending ‘pathetic’, that for me went beyond a neutral observer giving his opinions. I have never heard a commentator or co commentator ever call a player ‘pathetic’. Also his calling for a penalty for Hibs near the end of the game was embarrassing, he screamed for it! I don’t know nor have heard Richard Foster as I can’t see Sportscene here in Ireland.

  4. It would appear that the UK & Ireland are now guaranteed to host Euro 2028, as there is no other rival bid. Played across 18 venues with Hampden and Murrayfield the only two in Scotland.

A great pity that Celtic Park is not being considered as Hampden is awful for viewing and Murrayfield is pretty soulless . In any case, the SFA would not propose Celtic Park through fear of marginalising the Govan outfit.

  5. Seriously the SFA is a disgrace – why put money into rugby – supporting Scottish football my ass.

  6. If Murrayfield is touting itself for the Euros in 2028,make them take the Hibs v Hearts semi final, instead ot 30k plus coming to Glasgow for a midday kick off……

A few years ago as I sat in my Edinburgh office on a Friday afternoon, plain clothes police arrived and handcuffed Gavin, a colleague, at his desk in front of everyone and arrested him under the Offensive Behaviour At Football Act.

He was held in police custody until he appeared in court on the Monday where he was released on bail.

Gavin was a Hibernian supporter and had been fighting in the street with Sunderland casuals after a pre-season friendly.

To say the Act was introduced solely to victimise Celtic supporters is paranoid nonsense.

  8. Twickenham not proposed. The Aviva and Croke Park the two in Ireland. Never been to the Aviva but, apparently, the atmosphere is even more soulless than Murrayfield.

Would very much like Celtic to put their hand up and propose Celtic Park. Just to witness the SFA’s response.

Let’s be honest. Celtic Park is nowhere near good enough to host the EUROS.

It’s high time we stopped kidding ourselves.

  11. I think the Aviva in Dublin is an excellent Stadium.

Watched Celtic/Barcelona there a few years back & enjoyed it immensely apart from result.

Mind you I had been on the piss with Almore pre match so that might have influenced my thinking.

Fighting in the street was a crime before the SNP introduced their Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications (Scotland) Act 2012.

The legislation wasn’t introduced to deal with people who fight in the street.

It was introduced to deal with people who sang or chanted ‘offensive’ material that was not sectarian and therefore hitherto had not been illegal.

Those people were Celtic fans, no one else.

The legislation was designed to ‘even up the score’.

You are nothing but a useful idiot to the SNP.

We have six years to take it from nowhere near good enough to more than good enough.

Fergus demolished 75% of the stadium and rebuilt in about three years.

So you expect people to vote on the basis of one issue and one issue alone?

I told you before, I disagreed with the act and spoke against it, but there are other more important reasons for my political choices.

You are just a one trick pony and very boring with it. Time you grew up and took your politics seriously.

The main criterion for stadia for the EUROS would have been not to have more than one stadium in one city, so Hampden and Murrayfield makes sense.

Celtic have made no move or announcement towards improving facilities to upgrade the main stand, so why would the SFA select Celtic Park above the National Stadium in the hope that an upgrade might just be on the cards?

Plod and COPFOS, two institutions that were only too willing to do their paymasters bidding, used the legislation to prosecute people for things that were already crimes known to the law of Scotland.

That was a deliberate tactic to fool the gullible, such as yourself, into the purpose of the legislation.

Celtic fans defending or apologising for the SNP over this issue really have drunk the Kool Aid.

But it’s not a cult. It’s definitely not a cult.

If Sevco have offered Celtic 700 tickets for Ibrox, take them. When Celtic win, the 700 will give the players and Ange a focus for an on-field celebration. Otherwise it will be straight off the park at full-time.

    Rub their noses in it.
