ADAM IDAH ended his 14-goal drought with an eye-catching double against Aston Villa in the Midlands last night.

However, it was a bittersweet experience for the Republic of Ireland international powerhouse as Celtic collapsed to a 4-2 Champions League loss against Unai Emery’s side.

Idah and the Hoops will learn tomorrow if they will face either current trophy holders Real Madrid or Bundesliga aces Bayern Munich in the two-legged play-offs next month.

THAT’S OUR BHOY…Liam Scales and Yang Hyun-jun congratulate hitman Adam Idah on his double against Aston Villa.

The £9.5million summer recruit went into the spotlight against Villa with the former Norwich City frontman now the main man following Kyogo Furuhashi’s £10million move to French club Rennes.

The last time Idah had netted was on November 30 at Parkhead when he claimed the final goal in a 5-0 romp against Ross County.

But he claimed a fine double in the space of two minutes and 25 seconds to claw the game back to 2-2 after the visitors had gifted the home team a 2-0 advantage inside five minutes of a topsy-turvy encounter.

Celtic were rocked again when Ollie Watkins hit a third on the hour mark and then a defensive lapse by young substitute Dane Murray in stoppage-time allowed Morgan Rogers to collect his hat-trick.

Idah, speaking to Celtic TV, said: “It was obviously pleasing for me to get the two goals and get the team back into the match.

EURO STAR…Adam Idah celebrates after his second goal at Villa Park.

“It was a tough game and we dug deep and did well. That’s the level we want to be at, playing against top teams, and we’ve learnt a lot from the game and we push on now.

“We have to have a lot of belief and confidence in ourselves to go as far as we can.

“We’re very excited for the next couple of games and, hopefully, we can do well.”

The champions turn their attention back to the Premiership when they play Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday.
