We Shall Not Be Moved

Was it really almost 15 years since the only time Celtic beat reigning European champions?  A late goal from Scott McDonald in October 2007 was enough to secure a 2-1 win over Milan in the Champions League.  Two other Scottish clubs had already achieved this (Rangers and Dunfermline, both who beat the 1967 European champions), recording a mark the great Stein sides never did.

The reason I mention this to you is that in the days that followed we were glowing in our new European status.  Then we visited Fir Park.  It wasn’t even Motherwell we faced, it was Gretna, a team from 90 miles south of ML1 who did not have the facilities to compete in the top flight, so travelled the M74 for home games.

Gretna were leading until 85 minutes, when goals from Chris Killen and another late McDonald winner calmed our nerves.

We are now glowing at our great win and performance on Wednesday night.  ‘We shall not be moved’ from the top of the league is the claim.  I heard the same chant from Dingwall on Saturday when Newco took a 2-3 lead; chants don’t win points.  The next game is always the biggest one and for Celtic, the next two, both on the road, are crucially important.

Players are not machines, they cannot climb the mountain every time.  There will be an inevitable fall off in adrenalin at Fir Park.  There are 14 games remaining, seven away from home, every one a cup final in itself.  An acre of Lanarkshire is the stage for our next trophy.  Win and keep belief alive that not by the Hearts, the Hibs or the The Rangers, we shall not be moved!

    They do or say something horrible, get confronted about it then completely deny they did or said it in the first place, weaselling and wiggling their way out of of taking responsibility for their reprehensible deeds. Shameful.

     

    Calling for players to deliberately hurt an already injured opponent betrays KB’s real nasty character; many employers wouldn’t tolerate that kind of misdemeanour.

     

    A very, very average player with a much bigger mouth than a reputation for playing prowess.

     

    Then again, the meeja love rent-a-gubs.

     

    I agree with PRESTONPANS, our leaders need to keep the pressure on and get him ousted.

    Celtic must not, and I believe will not, ban Boyd from Celtic Park. Strong pressure on, & representations to, Sky, is the way to go. The onus is then on the broadcaster to make a decision. Sky will need to consider very carefully, if they back him they are on shakey-ground, because there is little doubt Boyd will f***-up again.

     

     

    To ban him will turn it into a Boyd (ex Ranger) v Celtic scrap. It is most definitely not! It is Boyd making an a*** of himself – let’s not get dragged into it.

    Came back from London today so apologies for the late Superbru update.

     

     

    The winner of this round with 13 points was Majestic Hartson, Mick the Tim finished 2nd and Friesdorfer was 3rd. The wooden spoon was won by celticroller coaster who scored 0 thanks to predicting a draw with the Huns.

     

     

    All bar 2 predicted a Celtic win but only 3 got the 3:0 score right- Majestic Hartson, Bada Bing and Fess19.

     

     

    Overall, Call me Gerry has regained the lead and is a point clear of Hopeful Hoops with Big Archie a further 5 points behind in 3rd.

     

     

    Over 30, including me, have still to make their predictions and they have to be in by 3pm tomorrow with 2 further big games on Sunday.

    Anyone who has watched the internecine strife within the Labour Party & the Tories, over the last fifty-years would ridiculed if they called either a ‘cult’.

     

     

    Now the SNP is a totally different proposition – a closer match to a ‘cult’ is hard to imagine. Murrell & Strugeon probably have an Amazon Suscribe & Save standing order for Jim Jones’s ‘Idiots Guide to Cult Behaviour’. Swinney will be in charge of the Kool Aid inventory, no doubt.
